Watched 'SENTIMENTAL VALUE' (Kanopy). It's an ingenious Art Film about the relationship between a famous movie director and his two daughters who are both acclaimed actresses. Dad wants his eldest daughter to play a part in his new film, but she refuses because of the emotional turmoil that it would cause. The director has hired a new actress to play the part, but even she realizes that it just won't work; with Renate Reinsve (THE WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD), Stellan Skarsgard, Elle Fanning. I wonder if we had a power outage last night? Watched 'ARMAGEDDON TIME' (Netflix). It's a 'middle school drama' about what it was like to attend public school in Manhattan during the turbulent 1980's. An affluent Jewish boy becomes friends with a black kid from foster care and emotional mayhem ensues. The theme is that the deck is stacked and somehow you must defend your entitlements yet never give in to racists and bullies; with Anne Hathaway, Jeremy Strong, Anthony Hopkins, Jessica Chastain (as Maryanne Trump). It's a tepid Police Procedural about a series of kidnappings of young boys that occurred in New Jersey. But, 'The Whisper Man' is in jail, so who is the copycat? It's none other than the son of the original serial killer. The film boasts a stellar cast, but the script was just too weak and lacked any originality; with Robert De Niro, Michelle Monaghan, Adam Scott, Michael Keaton. "52" Metascore and I would go to "73".  We 9/2/26- Janny Passes Away 720am (GB: 4/ Durban Poison). 8am (5-B: Cat Piss). 1115am (GB: 5/ Durban Poison). 255pm (4-B: Cat Piss). 535pm (GB: 6/ Cat Piss). 820pm (GB: 5/ Durban Poison). Up 630am: 'Blowtorch' sunny & hazy with temps almost to 100. No call from Joe so I imagine that Janny is still with us, although I wouldn't blame Joe if he didn't call. ***A little after 730am. Joe called to tell me that Janny passed away around 1am this morning. All of the Brandenburg's were sitting in the bedroom when it happened. Bob and his new wife were staying with Joe at Jamie's in Pleasant Plains.  Watched 'MIDWINTER BREAK' (Netflix). A retired Irish couple from Scotland take a trip to Amsterdam and this initiates a detailed examination of their life together. The movie begins with a woman jumping off a bridge into a large body of water. In flashbacks we learn that she has been 'missing' for over two years and started a new family. Her old 'family' was involved in human trafficking and it was her ex-mother in law who was 'rotten to the core'. Filmed in Tysnes, Norway with additional work in Sunnhordland and Hardanger. This area is in southwestern Norway along the North Sea. The film is a kind of a second rate Harlan Coben storyline in an exotic setting.  Watched an episode of 'ALLEGEDLY with Ellison Barber' (Netflix Podcast)- It concerned Pastor JP Miller which was the subject of a Netflix document...

It's a documentary about homeless youth. The film is a decade old and I'm sure that things are far worse. There hasn't been a government study to even determine how many children are on the streets and estimates range from 40,000 to over 2,000,000.
