Even more heat and humidity for the weekend. There was no mention of last night's outage at Xfinity. Why would they tell me that it would be restored at 435am? Watched 'INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE' (Netflix). The AMC version makes it all about the gay relationship between Louis and Lestat and the racist attitudes {Jim Crow} in early 20th century New Orleans. Anne Rice and her son did not OK the final project and Anne died before they finished and she never saw the final product. And, in the novel the character of Louis was not a black man. The series is set in Storyville in the early 20th century and the novel was set in Louisiana during the 18th century. Both the series (100% more references) and the book have elements of a gay romance....

 Tu 8/11/26- Pleasant Plains Visit 730am (GB: 5/ Green Crack). 330pm (GB: 5/ Red Congolese). 535pm (GB: 5/ Green Crack). 810pm (GB: 6/ Red Congolese).  Up 630am: Hot & sticky with a chance of morning showers {nada} and temps to 90 with a 'Heat Advisory' in effect.  Watched 'A QUIET PLACE: DAY ONE' (Netflix). It's a bland 'Space Invasion' film set on the gritty streets of Manhattan. A black woman (she's in a hospice and dying of cancer) and her cat face the alien apocalypse by heading to Harlem for a slice of pizza with a terrified white man. The aliens have mastered intergalactic travel, yet they don't know how to swim. From personal observation I can say that the film presents a very rosy portrayal of 'end of life' in hospice and the cat (Frodo) had far too many canine qualities.  And, that's also from personal observation. If I don't get a call from Dr. Martinek's office in the next couple of hours I will call back. Within five minutes I got a call from the nurse practitioner. I should begin taking MIRALAX   (Polyethylene Glycol) twice a day. This will take the place of the laxatives that I've been taking. I should drink plenty of liquids and they will give me a follow-up call on Friday.   Watched 'BUGONIA' (Netflix). Weekly Cleaning & I tried to add 'uBlock Origin' to the upstairs PC, but it said I already have it. I rejected all ads at Accuweather and it makes the site watchable. This feature is not available at The Weather Channel. I had planned to try a visit to Pleasant Plains in the morning, but constipated so I think I'll hit it later. Watched 'CHIEF OF STATION' (Netflix). A former CIA Station Chief's wife is killed in an 'accidental' explosion and then accused of being a double agent. Hubby goes rogue to find his wife's killers. Very lame and highly forgettable; with Aaron Eckhart (Alec Baldwin was first on their list). Mostly sunny & humid with temps to upper 80's.  Mowed the lawn: 830am- 940am Watched 'A DIFFERENT MAN' (Kanopy). A thoughtful & darkly hilarious rift on 'The Beauty & the Beast' or even 'The Elephant Man', although it's never mentioned. Makes you question what you think about what it means to be 'different'. How much of a difference does it make if 'the outside' of a person doesn't match 'the inside'. If you are 'different', should you be 'passive' or would it be better to take a more 'aggressive' (in your face) approach. A gnarly looking short man had apparently (maybe?) been in the house all night. Maybe there is somebody living there during the renovation? I had seen 'Gnarly Guy' working on the house over the last few weeks.  Watched 'IN THE LAND OF SAINTS AND SINNERS' (Netflix). An Irish hitman wants to retire, but 'The Troubles' (Northern Ireland conflict between Protestants and Catholics) keeps calling him back. A band of IRA killers have come to town and mayhem ensues. Pretty standard stuff, but beautiful locations in Donegal, Ireland which is in the far northwestern part of the country; with Liam Neeson, Kerry Condon (an exciting performance as the 'evil bitch'). ...
