Very hot & nasty for the rest of the week.  Weekly Cleaning...also, prompt for a 'restart'. No discernible difference. 'Hoopla' reached the library's limit before 8am.  Watched 'WILD DIAMOND' (Kanopy). A cracked portrait of a young woman who is striving to become an internet sensation as her life implodes. Will internet fame 'heal' her broken life?..."TikTok Energy meets Social Realism". "65" Metascore and I would go to "81". Set and filmed in Frejus, France which is the port town on the Cote d'Azur and it is about 25 miles south of Cannes. More 'BIG MISTAKES' (Netflix). I shut it down 19 minutes into episode #6. A bus driver forces the city of Barcelona to extend the routes to a poor community on the outside of the city. I had never seen 'double' buses before; a city bus hooked to another bus without a driver's compartment. The message is 'Power To The People'.  930am: The PC is 'Off' and preparing for a visit to Pleasant Plains. It could be a madhouse or all of the kids might be out playing sports.  945am: To Pleasant Plains...Melissa's car broke down on Friday so she was using Joe's Jeep and when I pulled into the drive and didn't see his car I thought no one was home.  Then, it turned into a very busy day. Joe & I sat with Janny & she was not very lucid and I'm not even sure she knew I was there. Usually the nurses don't come out ...

(Windows are still open) There doesn't seem to be a 'Boil Order' in Springfield and the water at 940 seems much clearer (back to normal?).  ***745am: Two trucks arrived to check my water. The CWLP guy said that I was the only one to call in a report on Westview, and it's possible that 940 was the only affected home. This seems questionable, but he gets the big bucks. They ran some test water from my outside faucet and opened the hydrant and checked under the manhole. Luckily, I had run water earlier and felt that I was in the clear. They were very responsive to my complaint.   Watched 'ALTERED STATES' (Hoopla). A sensory deprivation tank and psychedelic drugs become a gateway to a 'higher' power and during the process the rese...

The film is about the relationship between the painter, Lucien Freud, and Kate Moss, one of the most famous models on the planet. It was not very interesting; with Derek Jacobi & Ellie Bamber. 730am: The painter (next door) was dropped off around 730am. He was there yesterday and maybe they're close to putting it on the market? 930am: The PC is 'Off' and preparing for a trip to Pleasant Plains. 940am: Pleasant Plains...Joe was alone and we talked in the bedroom & the nurse arrived around 1130am. Checked vital signs & all OK [her heart is very strong]. She left and Pam (black social worker) talked about burial issues. I'll have to close the windows by late morning.  Watched 'THE LAST VIKING' (Kanopy).  A droll comedy about a bank robber who has been released from prison and has never revealed the location of the stolen loot. His mentally challenged brother can't (will not?) remember where he stashed it because he believes that he is now the 'real' John Lennon. Nordic Fable: The son of a Viking king loses an arm and the king decrees that all males in the kingdom will lose an arm. The king reasoned that if everyone has only one arm this loss would not be a handicap, but the norm. 'Loomis' is a Swedish company that provides armored transportation and cash management and armored transportation. 'Manfred' (Mads Mikkelsen's character) suff...

Partly sunny with temps to low 80's. Watched 'LAZARETH' (Netflix). A tepid post apocalypse tale about a woman and her two adult orphaned nieces living in quarantine at a remote cabin (named 'Lazareth') during a deadly global pandemic. And then they let a strange  young man into their isolated world and he becomes part of 'the family'; with Ashley Judd. This has been done many times before and much better.   930am: The PC is 'Off' and preparing for a trip to Pleasant Plains...Sitting Shiva in reverse & before the 'Passover'.  945am- 1005am: To Pleasant Plains...When I arrived a nurse- aid, Jamie, & Joe were giving Janny a bath. Up 645am: Partly cloudy with temps to about 80 and light winds. Watched 'MIROIRS NO. 3' (Kanopy). The film begins with a fatal car crash in which her boyfriend is killed and she survives. She gets taken in by a middle aged woman and 'The Men' (her husband and son). Big Reveal: Mom was seeking a 'replacement' ('reflection'?) for her daughter who committed suicide. I thought that there would be a bit more to the story. Shot in Berlin and the Uckermark region in Brandenburg, Germany. This area is north of Berlin, Germany on the Polish border. Directed and written by Christian Petzold. "78" Metascore and that's about where I'd put it. From THE PLAYLIST- "While Mirrors No.3 does not put a foot wrong, it does not display the narrative and formal intricac...

Weekly Cleaning Watched 'FACING EL CHAPO' (Netflix). Two Mexican 'Federales' capture the biggest drug dealer in Mexico at a routine traffic stop and refuse to be bought off. Based on a true story and identities of the two officers have never been released. Not riveting drama, but it shows the pervasive and corrupting influence of super wealth. El Chapo's power seemed more powerful than the federal and local authorities.  935am: Preparing to call Joe for another visit to Pleasant Plains. Relief from constipation is not 100%. 955am- 1015am:  To Pleasant Plains...Jamie at work and Melissa had the kids (church?) & she returned about 1pm. The boys were putting together jigsaw puzzles on the kitchen counter. I had to take a dump and waited till I got home. I left at 115pm & home by 1...

The film is based on a novelized biography by Emmanuel Carrere of the Russian dissident writer and politician, Eduard Limonov. 'Eddie' was against any form of societal control and spent his life attacking any intrusion on his perceived liberty. He was the definitive 'Anarchist'. He was born in 1944 and in the sixties he was a struggling poet in Russia and in the 70's he hung with the Andy Warhol crowd in NYC. Then it was Paris and then back to Mother Russia for some prison time. The film features a lot of the music of the Velvet Underground and an excellent 'video' within the film of 'Pretty Vacant' by the Sex Pistols. "61" Metascore and I would go to "76".   Finished ...

The windows have been open for a couple of days, and I might have to close them if the humidity gets too high. {830pm- still open}. Watched 'THE TRUTH AND TRAGEDY OF MORIAH WILSON' (Netflix). In May of 2020 a two year old girl was kidnapped from a tiny village in Thailand and the media & the internet ('Netizens') became obsessed with the case. The uncle and the parents had different news channels following their every move. Although this was technically a 'news story', it soon became popular entertainment. The uncle took the fall on the flimsiest evidence I'd ever heard. Strands of the little girl's hair were found in his vehicle, but it was not unusual for the girl to ride in his truck. This seemed to be the only physical evidence linking him to the murder. His appeals have...

Watched 'RELAY' (Hoopla).  850am: Call from nurse at Martinek's office..."no significant findings on the x-ray". Gastroenterologist office will call to schedule a colonoscopy. Dr. Martinek recommends a stronger laxative. I'll pick that up when I get the call that the suppository is in.   Watched 'RELAY' (Hoopla). I had seen this film fairly recently, but I didn't recognize the title. The Telecommunications Relay Service (TRS) is a genuine public communications system in the US for people with hearing or speaking difficulties. 'Ash' (the fixer) uses TRS so that his communications are secret and cannot be traced. 'Sarah' is actually working for the corporation and is ...

Watched 'A CHILD OF MY OWN' (Netflix). Crazy story, but very believable. I shut it down with 44 minutes remaining and I'll finish the documentary tonight. 935am: Preparing to call Joe (and remind him that I noticed that he shaved his head) and head back to Pleasant Plains.  945am- 1010am to Pleasant Plains left 115pm. Just Joe & I and spent the whole time at her bedside. She's well enough to say 'hi' and then she's back to sleep. Jamie let me in the locked back door and he went back to sleep. Melissa was at work. Joe said the nurse should be here in the morning, but she never showed. $7.00 suppository at Walgreens. It wasn't until late in the afternoon did I find out that what I picked up was 'navel ointment'. I got a call that the suppository was backor...

Mostly sunny with temps to low 80's and not as humid.  An old gray sedan is connected to the guy that's working on the house next door. Somebody dropped him off just after 7am.  Picked up sticks and branches on the lawn. Watched 'DON'T SAY GOOD LUCK' (Netflix). {An Adam Sandler production}. A suburban family grapples with Mom's terminal cancer and recognition for their daughter when she scores the lead role in her high school play, 'Waitress'. Not as bad as it sounds, but just a little too sweet; with Sunny Sandler (Adam Sandler's daughter), Melanie Lynskey, Steve Buscemi. "73" Metascore and that's where I'd leave it. "Waitress' is a real Broadway play.   10am: I reported the non working street light out front. Watched 'INSTADOCS...

Mostly sunny and less humid with temps only to about 80. Watched 'WINONA' (Amazon Prime). Four young women in their late teens enjoy a day at the beach. However, late in the film the girls reveal that the encounter is more of a funeral (celebration of life?) for one of their friends' death.  The couple in the Range Rover were the parents of the deceased girl, Winona and in the final scene workers are assembling a Tiki bar on the beach signifying that life moves on. Shot entirely on Zorkos Beach, located on the northern side of Andros Island, Greece.   920am: The PC is 'Off' and preparing to call Joe and head back to Plains. 930am & arrived 10am & left 115pm. Weekly Cleaning Watched 'MOTEL DESTINO' (Kanopy). An odd Brazilian Film Noir/ Art Film about a criminal who hides out at a 'hot sheet' motel and falls in lust with the owner's wife. Odd Scenes: moaning & shrieking in the motel corridors; the lovers digging their graves at gunpoint and stark naked; the owner hits a horse in his jeep and is killed; the guy ends up working in a Brazilian ice factory shoveling cubes and says he will meet his love maybe in another lifetime. "74" Metascore and I would go to "81". Shot along the coast of Ceara which is along the Atlantic ocean in Northeastern Brazil.   Began 'INSIDE THE TRUSTOR SCANDAL' (Netflix). Bigg...

Up 7am: Random storms all morning, then cloudy & sweltering with temps almost to 90.  I did a restart just after I opened the internet, and then twenty minutes after I started working I got a 'restart' prompt.   I filled out most of the 'pre-visit' forms for the doctor appointment on Tuesday, and the rest I will do in person.  Watched 'THE BEACH HOUSE MURDERS' (Netflix). A female writer is harassed by the men in her life. She splits to a Malibu beach house and three men end up dead. The story was so ridiculous that a seven year old wouldn't buy into it. I gave it 'one thumb down'. Filmed in greater Los Angeles and along the Malibu Coastline. 945am: The PC is 'Off' and preparing for a trip to Plains. 10am & arrived 1025am-To Pleasant Plains...Joe lef...

And, the coffee maker stopped working.  I took a blue pill laxative and a 'gentle' tablet and got relief, but this shouldn't be necessary. When the Martinek's office calls I'll tell them that I need 'the next step'. ***850am: I got a call from the nurse at Martinek's office. Made an appointment with Dr. Martinek on Tuesday at 440pm.  Watched 'THE LAST HOUSE' (Netflix). It's the cracked & silly tale of an alien invasion that brings a family closer together. Even more heat and humidity for the weekend. There was no mention of last night's outage at Xfinity. Why would they tell me that it would be restored at 435am? Watched 'INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE' (Netflix). The AMC version makes it all about the gay relationship between Louis and Lestat and the racist attitudes {Jim Crow} in early 20th century New Orleans. Anne Rice and her son did not OK the final project and Anne died before they finished and she never saw the final product. And, in the novel the character of Louis was not a black man. The series is set in Storyville in the early 20th century and the novel was set in Louisiana during the 18th century. Both the series (100% more references) and the book have elements of a gay romance....
