635pm (2-B). 8pm (1-B).
Up 550am: Partly sunny with temps just over 80.
Watched 'SUNDOWN' (Kanopy). A rich family from London vacation in sunny Acapulco, Mexico and receive news that the wife's mother has died. They hastily leave the resort to head home and at the airport the husband says that he's left his passport at the hotel and that they should go on ahead. He hasn't lost his passport and he seems to be intentionally fleeing his old life to start a new one in Mexico. He switches hotels and begins the life of a local. He meets a Mexican woman, renounces his claim to the very lucrative family business, and learns that he has terminal brain cancer. A film about a man who drifts through life and it's more of a positive 'acceptance' than cowardice. A slow moving Art Film, but brilliantly done; with Tim Roth and Charlotte Gainsbourg. I loved it.
925am: Shutting down the living room PC a bit early and will watch a film on the treadmill. I need to get five miles in before the dentist appointment.
945am: Began 'THAT SUGAR FILM' (Amazon Prime) on the treadmill. A man does a 60 day diet in which he consumes the equivalent of 40 teaspoons of sugar a day. Forty teaspoons is taken as the average person consumes and how they arrived at this figure is a little unclear. He could not eat junk food but only products marked healthy or low in fat. At the end he gained 12 lbs and 5 inches to his waistline yet his caloric intake was the same. The film makes the point that a consumer should only buy food on the far left and the far right in a grocery store. The stuff in the middle is barely food.
FIVE MILES AT 4.0 PACE AND ZERO SLANT
Weight set/ 15 reps.
1240pm: To dental appointment. No problems but they want me to consider replacing the right front tooth. More discussion when I go back in November. I want to get the maximum coverage from the insurance.
1 hit before I pulled out of the lot
2pm: To Fairhills/ County Market: $105
405pm: TWO MILES AT 4.0 PACE AND ZERO and began THEO VON with a doctor who freezes people for future resurrection. Very odd that he would invite this guy on his show.
455pm: In the tub with 'UNDER THE BANNER OF HEAVEN' and listening to 'THE ELECTRIC FLAG'; 'PAUL BUTTERFIELD BLUES BAND'.
Watched the next episode of 'HOW TO CHANGE YOUR MIND' (Netflix). Michael Pollan talks about his experiences with Psilocybin. 'Spring Grove Mental Hospital' was involved in the use of psychedelics to treat terminally ill cancer patients for depression. This research was going on from the early sixties thru the late 70's and this is the second oldest mental health facility in the United States.
745pm: Shutting down a little early and will have another hit and read more about the Mormons of 'The Arizona Strip'.
