Su 3/31/24- Bose Speaker Stopped Working
8am (2-B). 845am (1-SB). 120pm (2-B). 545pm (2-B). 815pm (2-B).
Up 6am: {Buddy had thrown up again by the bedroom door. Is this the new normal?} Cloudy with a chance of thunderstorms late this afternoon and temps to mid 60's.
Did the Weekly Cleaning
****When I turned on the living room PC the Bose Speaker Bar didn't work. I did all that I know {'Restart'}, but still nothing. Why? Working fine yesterday, and then nothing today. I changed the batteries in the wand, but still nada.
****At 8am I came back upstairs from a few hits and noticed that Windows Help said that the Bose speaker wasn't plugged in. I tapped the breaker bar and plugs and I lost everything! Something must have been very loose. I tightened the plugs and finally I got everything back. The WiFi router even went from a 'red' idiot light to 'green' and I've {Thankfully!!!} got the Bose Speaker Bar back!
Watched 'THE STARLING GIRL' (Kanopy). A seventeen year old girl in a Christian community finds herself in a fumbling sexual affair with her youth pastor. When their assignation is exposed, she is made to feel that it's entirely her fault. She succumbed to Satan's enticement to sin and then she entrapped the Christian youth leader. I thought this was an incredibly honest and authentic depiction of life in a closed and very rigid Christian community. It's alll about 'God' and 'Family' and fuck everything else. The ' Men' and the 'Old Folks' have got all the answers you'll ever need and they will pass them on to you...if you know what's good for you! "78" Metascore.
From 'The Hollywood Reporter':
"The Starling Girl is a complex, often disturbing portrait of the way women have been pressured to shrink themselves and pass on that shame to their daughters."
From 'IndieWire':
"The power of this sensitive and devilishly detailed coming-of-age drama is rooted in the friction that it finds between biblical paternalism and modern personhood."
From 'The Hollywood Reporter':
"One of the smartest things about Parmet’s film is the way it portrays internalized misogyny in her female characters. The Starling Girl is a complex, often disturbing portrait of the way women have been pressured to shrink themselves and pass on that shame to their daughters."
Finished 'THE PIG, THE SNAKE AND THE PIGEON' (Netflix). I had no idea of the storyline, but the film randomly began in a very different kind of rigid religious community. A contemporary Chinese 'anointed' con man poisons believers, they vomit black bile and he convinces them that they are 'at stage 4' and their life is just about over. Then he swindles them out of everything that they own. The hitman falls for the scheme, sees through it, and then assassinates nearly everyone in the cult. Most of the believers stay to be shot. In the end, he is executed by the state. Even though I understood almost nothing of the overall storyline of the film it was a visually enchanting film.
1240pm: The PC is 'Off' and the plan is to do the weights and then visit Planet Fitness. Yesterday I thought that I might rake the gumballs out front, but due to the 'speaker/ computer' problems I decided to save more raking fun for another day.
Weights: 3 sets/ 15 reps
130pm: To Planet Fitness...45"Cross, 45"Treadmill, 30"Bike, 30"Cross, 30"Treadmill; began 'MCGREGOR FOREVER (Netflix)- A reasonable profile of MMA champion, Conor McGregor; more of a 'YOUR MOM'S HOUSE'.
Flakes/ Raisins/ Peanuts
550pm: In the tub with 'AMSTERDAM' and listening to DRIVE-BY TRUCKERS Live; FREE- 'Molten Gold'.
More of MARK NORMAND on 'YOUR MOM'S HOUSE'.
More 'KALEIDOSCOPE' (Netflix). Part of the series is set at the Washington Correctional Facility in far upstate New York near the Vermont border. I shut it down 26 minutes into the third episode. I guess it doesn't matter what order, but I'm just seeing them in the Netflix order.
