Up 730am; reading 4-5am. Steamy hot and sunny already- the next several days it's to hit the mid 90's. Will punch up the AC by 10am.
Wrote up KEEP THE CHANGE by Thomas McGuane for the blog.
'FRAILTY'(Amazon Prime); 9am. Bill Paxton plays a serial killer touched by the hand of god to rid the world of demons with the help of his two young sons. Not bad, and an unexpected twist at the end; Mathew McConaughey/ Powers Boothe.
1115am; The Weekly Cleanup, and very satisfied with the new vacuum. At the low speed, there's plenty of juice to do the job.
Downstairs and read and listened to an hour and a half of tapes. I located 'PANAMA' by Thomas McGuane and really love it. The guy has a way with words, and although I loved KEEP THE CHANGE, this book shows a marked improvement of the crazy fascination with language and description.
225pm on the bike to the credit union and LA Fitness. I got a $35 check from ATT for my over-pay. I remember that one clerk said that this would not be possible- I thought she didn't know what she was talking about. On the machines just before 3pm. A terrible storm seemed to be rolling in from the Southeast, but I decided to stay the course, and nothing happened. But, it looked like all Hell could have broken out.
45" Walk. 3.6/0(HOMELAND). 45" Recumbent Bike (Jason Isbell- WITCH IN THE DITCH/ The Gestapo/ French Surete book about a murder investigation during WWII). 45" Cross (Episode #1, RAY DONOVAN). 30" Recumbent Bike (RAY DONOVAN). 30" (episode #1, LOVESICK)
Home to soak, read, Chicago Blues....(1')
Tonight, 'THE 1984 SAN DIEGO MCDONALD'S MASSACRE (Amazon Prime)'. Another puzzling documentary in that the central question was never really answered. Why did authorities take 77 minutes to storm the restaurant? They had many plausible excuses, but the fact remains that many people lay shot and bleeding and no aid was given. Spokesmen did mention that the procedure for this kind of situation has changed dramatically due to this incident, yet they didn't go into detail as to 'how'.
