Up 730am; fierce and intense storms last night- downstairs still water-tight; sixties to barely seventy. For the end of July in Illinois, these are amazing temperatures.
Watched 'DARK PLACES' (Netflix) I had seen this one before, but forgot how good it was; Charlize Theron, and the guy that was the addict congressman on HOUSE OF CARDS. Later, I found out the book for the film was written by the same author that did, 'GONE GIRL', so I reserved the new one, 'SHARP OBJECTS' as an e-book from the library.
1130am- Finished, 'NIGHT SCHOOL' and began 'STAY CLOSE'- Harlan Coben.
2pm drove to FitClub South. Various texts from the Brandenburgs- they arrived at Elsie's about 3pm, Phoenix Time.
45" Best Cross (Alabama Shakes (Amazon Music). 45" Walk (last episode Season III, 'THE WIRE'). 45" Recumbent Bike (read/ Adrian Belew (Amazon Music). 45" Cross (THE WIRE). 30" Walk (finished Season III/ interview Betty Gilpin).
Steam/ Whirlpool/ Pool....felt nice.
Home to read more Coben downstairs, drank a cup of instant/ STEREOLAB.
'STRAY BULLET' (Netflix). A young girl in Paterson, NJ is killed by a stray bullet in a gang shootout, but it takes almost 2 years to get to trial, and the prosecution's case is weak. The best 'reveal' of the documentary is that these crime ridden, low income areas have the most police presence, yet they are the most unsafe for the people that have to live there. It's obvious that the current police strategy is far off the mark- or it's right on target to feed The Prison Industrial Complex.
A Netflix doc about the Canadian Syrup Industry, 'DIRTY MONEY'. Many Canadian syrup producers feel that their price support system isn't working.
