We 8/12/18
Sunny and bright; temps to crack 80.
Watched Clive Owen, Billy Crudup, and James Caan in an organized crime drama set in Brooklyn during the 70's-' BLOOD TIES'. It got only lukewarm reviews, but I really liked it. A hoodlum is released from prison after a twelve year stretch and his brother is a cop who tries to patch up their relationship. The film demonstrates great ensemble acting, and an in-depth, multi-layered character study of relationships under duress. This is a remake of a French film and novel.
Then, 'BICYCLE- A GREAT BRITISH MOVEMENT' Eighty two minute documentary about the history of British cycling; Penny Farthing Bicycle/ Safety Bicycle/ Moulton Bicycle.
Put off buying the car rental at the St. Louis airport and renting the vehicle for Phoenix. Gotta do Dat!
2pm- on the bike to the 'Y'- however, didn't leave till almost 230pm, screwing around with the bike pump. It works, but 'it's a brand new fucking day' every time I try to use it.
45" Walk (TV). 45" Recumbent Bike (Began 'MISSING YOU'- Harlan Coben, the first book of 'The Lachel Series'). 45" Cross (HOMELAND). 45" Bike (HOMELAND). 30" (HOMELAND- 2 episodes today).
Home to finish/ skimmed to the end of 'THE NIGHT MANAGER'- both the book and the TV series were good, but I liked the 'episodic TV treatment' better. Also, listen to Live Dead, Chris's first tape....Live Stones next time.
Another 'FIRST AND LAST' for tonight- a guy that drinks 30 Buds a day is behind in his child support by four grand and lands in jail for the first time, and a black woman in her sixties is jailed in her bathrobe for her first time because she threw out some renters in her house- can't do that, gotta use eviction rules.
Then, an episode of an over-blown Netflix series; 'INSIDE THE CRIMINAL MIND- Kidnappers'.
