Fr 10/12/18- Day Four

Fr 10/12/18

Up at 6am to the phone alarm- a pleasant ringtone! Lots of clouds and we might have gotten an early morning sprinkle. But by early afternoon it turned pleasant and sunny- only to 81.

Down to the breakfast buffet by 630am- scrambled eggs/ english muffin/ a sausage/ and half a banana.
Over to Elsie's House about fifteen minutes early; 745am. Nancy, Lucy, and Lannie were preparing pancakes for the residents. He had just taken a shower and he looked 'movie star handsome'.

At 816am I put in a call to Southwest and I got my boarding pass. I'm in 'Group B'; not bad because I should be able to have no problem getting my backpack in the overhead, and I should have my choice of seats- Up Front.

I stayed at Elsie's until just after 10am. And, on the machines at LA Fitness by 1030am. 45"Cross (Listened to Physical Graffiti- Led Zeppelin on Hoopla for most of the workout). 45 " Walk (Led Zep). 45" Recumbent Bike (read more of The Camel Club; the book expired on Kindle, but I got an e-copy at Axis 360. 45" Cross (Led Zep and then The Essential Miles Davis, also on Hoopla). 30" Bike (Miles).  10" Steam room/ whirlpool/ pool/ 7" steam room/ pool. I'm gonna miss this place.

Arrived back at Elsie's just about 3pm. Rachel relieved Lucy on the dot of 330pm. Lucy is going to a wedding in Los Angeles and she'll be off work for four days next week. She didn't know who they would get to replace her.

I tried to contact Fox rental about the procedure for car returns, but just a big phone run-around. Hopefully there will be somebody there when I show up around 530am. It's certainly anxiety producing, but what am a gonna do? I'm committed to an 745am boarding, and that's the bottom line.

I was playing on the phone and the chromebook, and Janny called in her chat just after 4pm. He was in his wheelchair at the table yelling that he wanted a long sleeved shirt. We got cutoff on Lannie's cordless phone and Janny called me back on my cell. I don't think I've talked to Janny for that long on a phone in months. The Brandenburgs  head to Westview around 4pm, and I told her that I would be home way before 4pm, and I'll text when I land in St. Louis, but I told her not to plan on a visit tomorrow.

She said that it was only 41 degrees in Springfield and they were having snow showers south of Bloomington. She also said that they were down at the Willard Ice Building today for a tax problem with Ken Sr.   Because he has a Springfield mailing address the state of Illinois were trying to bill him for Illinois state taxes- $2,500. They worked it out and he owes nothing. Whatta hassle!

I exited Elsie's for the last time just before 5pm. I said good-bye to him, but he clearly had no idea who I was. I don't think he ever realized who I was during the entire visit. Too Far Gone.....I told Rachel that she was doing an outstanding job, and he couldn't be getting better care. And, that my sister was her biggest fan.

On the way out, I stopped at Fry's for a couple more bags of salad mis- 2 bucks. And, when I got back to the motel the card key would not open the door. Down to the front desk, and the guy made me two more cards without any hassle.

First brew at 520pm, and later  I watched the first episode of 'Forever' (Amazon Prime) on the Chromebook; Maya Rudolph/ Fred Armisen- a contentious ski trip.
