We 10/10/18- Day Two

We 10/10/18

I had the alarm set for 616am, but I got up at six; felt well rested and rarin' to go.

Problems with the Tech Sector at the hotel. Not even the television was working- and the Internet  was messed up. When I went downstairs for the breakfast buffet I heard a woman complaining about this. Glad to hear that it wasn't just me or my equipment.

I had a plate of scrambled eggs, a sausage, and a slab of pastry; back in the room before seven am, so the plan is to stop by Paradise and maybe catch Lannie. She's supposed to be at the house from 7am-9am. I plan to arrive just after 8am.

I arrived at Paradise just after 8am and Lannie was giving him a shave. He was in much better spirits, but still a handful. Within an hour Lannie realised that her cell phone was kaput, and she needed to meet her tax guy at 10am, but first she needed to pick up her car, and she didn't have a ride. So I took her to Desert Wind Car Repair to pick up the old (ancient) Taurus that sat in the driveway at Pineaire and the squirrels ate the electrical system. Shocked that this rust bucket was still on the road. Around we took off and headed South on 59th and I told her that this morning I had been reading about an excellent hiking trail that was in Glendale on 59th. She was familiar with the place and said that it was most definitely worth a visit.

I dropped her off with a big box of tax documents and I headed back north on 59th to Bell and then over to LA Fitness. On the machines by 10am. 30" Cross (Joe Ely). 30" Walk (Cuttin' Heads- John Mellencamp). 30" Recumbent Bike (read Baldacci and downloaded another episode of 'In Treatment').  30" Cross (Mazzy Star). 3 Hrs. 10" Steam/ whirlpool down/ a dip and five more in the steam room.

Then, I drove to 59th and wnt north to the hiking trails. I was pretty tired, and it was fairly daunting and very bright (I would have needed a hat) and I just stayed for a few minutes and took a few shots. A couple of very serious hikers were getting ready for a hike in the parking slot next to me.

Then, a visit to Walmart, also on 59th for Tees/ Underwear. And, over to Paradise Lane for the last visit of the day. He was super riled up- yelling about taking his shoes off, putting on long trousers, and then putting his pants back on. This rant went fairly non-stop for over an hour, and I could tell that this was not a new adventure for Rachel. I took a ninety second video that needs to be multiplied by at least 60 to get the full effect.

Janny called at 4pm and we talked and then she talked to him. Problems with Lannie's landline and I ended up calling her back on my phone. They were running late with visits with the grandkids, and when I was about to hangup they were just pulling into Westview for a visit with Buddy.

I stayed and talked with Rachel until after 5pm and then home to Comfort Inn to sip and listen to CNN talking about the hurricane that's about to hit the Florida Panhandle....We're All Going To Die.....

Hammered out an email to Cindy with pictures, and one to Janny as well. It's turned into a Seven Beer Night......Love the Rolling Rock!
