Fr 1/4/19- Internet Down For About An Hour
Fr 1/4/19
Up 715am; partly sunny, to mid 40's.
Watched 'BIRD BOX' (Netflix) Sandra Bullock/ John Malkovich; Out of the blue, Steve Rambach sent me a note that I should watch this. Not a bad Post-Apocalypse Thriller. It's about some kind of a worldwide attack that causes people to commit suicide if they open their eyes. The Spirits/ Monsters/ Aliens are never shown and this is probably the biggest strength of the film, but much of the story-line is nearly impossible to be believed. I suppose it's possible to drive a car with the windows covered using only the GPS system, but how were they able to locate one lock, on one door of a particular grocery store? And, the heroine manages to get 'Boy' and 'Girl' to the sanctuary (a blind school...who wudda thunk?) and she reunites with her pregnancy doctor who just happens to be working there. Some nice riot scenes and nifty car crashes- just can't get too much of those!
Watched the complex episode of MASTER OF NONE from last night. Aziz Ansari stars and directs; a thief takes his phone and he loses contact with a girl that he just met and was very smitten by her English charm. Maybe he gives his ex another shot (we're left hanging in the end).
Internet down for about an hour.....1215pm-115pm
I was playing around with AON Your Spending Account, and I lost the Internet....Unplug/ Plug....the usual frantic procedures....Nada. I called and got a recorded message that my service at 940 really had been affected and it would be reconnected at '4:17PM'. How would they be able to pinpoint it that close? Who Dey Kiddin'? I got it back just about 115pm, and I had them send me a text, and things are back to normal.
Will stop at the dentist on the way to the 'Y' to get the necessary information so that YSA can successfully rebate my thirty bucks.
140pm on the road, and at the dentist office I got a verification sheet that should be OK'd by the YSA without a single raised eyebrow.
On the machines just after 2pm. 45" Walk (Reality TV all workout). 45" Recumbent Bike (left the phone on the recumbent machine and didn't realize it until almost an hour later!) Whatdafuck...45" Cross. 45" Bike. 30" Cross.
Home to soak read more of Dartt and listen to some early Beck.
Downstairs PC fired right up!!! 'MURDER MOUNTAIN' (Netflix). This is a documentary about the Marijuana Industry in Humboldt county, CA. Started with hippies just trying to get by, and now it's gangsters trying to get mega-rich. "Trimigrants" come from around the world from September to December to trim the buds. They can make two hundred bucks a day but because they don't understand who they are working for, they might end up dead, and buried in the forest- Cheap Labor Is Dead Labor. Very interesting! Also, as America moves to legalize pot, the original growers are pushed out via excessive fees and regulation so that Big Business can take over.
