Up 530am; partly sunny, pleasant, and temps slightly warmer than yesterday- mid 70's with rain in the forecast for the next several days beginning early this evening.
Watched 'AMERICAN RENEGADE' (Amazon Prime) Almost the same premise as Donald E. Westlake's, 'DROWNED HOPES'. During WWII Nazis hid two tons of gold bars stolen from the French in a Slovakian village. Partisans exploded a dam and flooded the village, and the gold was forgotten till the middle of the Bosnian conflict in the 1990's. A group of Navy Seals conspires with a local girl to get the gold. Essentially just a 'B-Movie', and the only redeeming features are the performances of J.K. Simmons and Ewen Bremner ('Spuds' from TRAINSPOTTING).
Re-watched the last part of 'FEAR, LOVE, AND AGORAPHOBIA' from last night. This was a very fine Independent. A homeless female Marine is married to a man sentenced to life and she becomes roommates with a man suffering from Agoraphobia. An unlikely kinship develops and the presentation is very different from the usual and predictable Hollywood treatment.
Then the last two episodes of Season II, 'SNEAKY PETE' (Amazon Prime). Happy as Hell to see that there is a third season!
115pm: mowing the lawn; only about 45"- no raking, but did a little trimming with the hand trimmer.
Stopped for gas at the idiotic station on Old Jacks/ Durkin. If you follow the instructions on the pump, it doesn't work. You have to go inside, and the clerks tell you to disregard what it tells you. Fix The Fucking Pumps! Gas less than a buck and a half a gallon; Got eleven, and it filled it up. Over 400 miles to go before the tank is dry.
On the machines by 3pm at the 'Y'. 45" Walk (TV All Workout). 45" Recumbent Bike. 45" Cross. 30" Walk. 30" Cross.
Home to soak and listen to an excellent retrospective of Bowie on Amazon Music and read more 'Alaska'.
'NEEDS NO INTRODUCTION'- Letterman interviews Lewis Hamilton- Black English Formula One Car Champion, and then another episode of 'THE CHEF' (Netflix).
