Sa 1/11/2020- Library Book Sale

Up 720am: Overcast, blustery, and cold. Rain to begin again late this morning and snow for tonight- 30's. Much less rainfall than predicted earlier in the week.

Watched, 'THE MINUS MAN' (Amazon Prime). A strange and off-beat story about an affable, mild mannered serial poisoner on the loose near Irvine, CA. He seems to target people that want to die and rents a room at the home of a dysfunctional older couple. He gets a job with the post office, but can't shake the habit of murder. The film offers no resolution, but creepy nonetheless; with Owen Wilson, Sheryl Crow, Dwight Yoakam, Dennis Haysbert, Mercedes Ruehl, and Janeane Garofalo.

1115am: To the library books sale.

Back in the living room with 12 new novels by noon- all of them Police Procedurals or Legal Thrillers. I parked next to 529 S. 7th and the building is up for sale. Forty years ago I used to work there, and it does not seem like only yesterday.

Checked out all of the new paperbacks and wrote 'Library Book Sale- Sa 1/11/2020' on the flyleaf of each book.

Watched  'NOTHING REALLY HAPPENS' (Amazon Prime). A truly quirky, yet effective low- budget film about a man who feels that he may be losing his mind, but it's the guy's brother-in-law who is messing with him in an attempt to strengthen their relationship. "For such an elaborate setup, it seems poorly planned"."I'm really bad at being a good person". Award winner at SCI-FI-LONDON.

3pm: To FitClub West. 45" Octane (TRUE CRIME). 45" Walk (TV Rest of Workout). 45" Cross. 15" Walk.
****Snowing very heavy. Wet snow and roads looked like they could be a mess; a couple of inches and it looked like much more. I did have a bit of a problem getting up the driveway.

Read James Lee Burke on the couch and listened to MATHEW SWEET. Then in the tub with more Burke and THE JAYHAWKS and MAZZY STARR.

Looks like about three inches total, but it's only to get just above freezing tomorrow... Fifties for late this week!

Watched a 30" YouTube JONESY'S JUKEBOX - Robbie Krieger talks about The Doors and his relationship with Jim Morrison... And nothing was revealed......

Then part of a YouTube video, 'PRINCE- THE LAST YEAR OF A LEGEND'.

Then one episode of , 'CHEER' (Netflix)

Still unseasonably warm with a mix of sun & clouds. Watched 'MAGPIE' (Kanopy- borrowed 2 days ago).  It's basically a tale of 'Adultery & Revenge' although this isn't made clear until the last few minutes of the film. A wealthy couple live in a modern villa in the English countryside. He's a successful author, she is a housewife (she used to be in publishing) and their young daughter is co-starring in a big budget film that's being shot  near their home. Dad falls 'in lust' for the female star of the film, but his wife is several moves ahead. "69" Metascore and I would boost that to "80".
