Up 7am: Overcast with temps to low 30's.
Watched 'RAISING CAIN' (Netflix). Brian De Palma's stylish thriller that is compelling, yet completely unhinged. John Lithgow plays a child psychologist with multiple personalities. He's trying to study early child development, but murder and mayhem become part of the process. Excellent soundtrack and exquisite cinematography, but the story is almost laughable.
"Overall, De Palma creates a very lurid yet exciting film about a child psychologist falling apart over his marriage and dark family traits."
Then the last segment of 'HAPPY HOUR' (Kanopy).
****Got messages from Jamie about a party for Joe next Saturday at Texas Longhorn. "My best regards but I'm afraid I'll be repairing my umbrella that evening".
My comment on Kanopy:
"The film is a stark melodrama that details the lives of four, 30-something, Japanese women. It's beautifully shot, but it's basically a soap opera that's deliberately devoid of emotional response. Although I don't think I've seen anything like it (I could have stuck with it even if it went on for another five hours), it probably will turn off as many viewers as it captivates due to the extreme deadpan presentation."
1pm: I might head downtown for some marijuana, then hit Penny Lane for a bong, and on to Planet Fitness. Feeling exhausted...for some reason.
****I didn't do any of that. I prepared the rebate for the ten dollar co-pay to the Springfield Clinic on 12/23 and the $47 for the shingles booster shot. I dropped this off at the Wabash PO and was on the machines at Planet Fitness by 2pm.
45" Walk (YouTube True Crime). 45" Recumbent Bike (THE ESCAPE and listened to THE BLACK LABEL SOCIETY and ROYAL BLOOD). 45" Cross (THE PHARMACIST). 30" Walk (THE PHARMACIST- backed off to 2.6 instead of 2.9. I was really tired today. I think it was because I had to sleep only on the right side since the left shoulder was very sore due to the shingles booster). 30" Cross (THE PHARMACIST).
Home to read downstairs and finished THE ESCAPE and listened to RUSH and SCOTT WEILAND And The WILDABOUTS.
In the tub and began an old Lawrence Block- Mathew Scudder that I found on the shelf and listened to RICKIE LEE JONES and SUPER SESSION- Mike Bloomfield, Al Kooper, Steven Stills.
The end of THE PHARMACIST that I began during the workout.
Then a YouTube 50" video of, 'AL KOOPER- THE MAKING OF BLONDE ON BLONDE'. Kooper says the he thought that he was hired to play guitar, but once he heard Mike Bloomfield he felt that his playing was so far above him that he switched to organ. His organ parts on 'Blonde On Blonde' got him many sessions afterwards. Up until then he had been a producer and a guitarist, but after that session he was known as a premiere organist.
Then an 18" interview on 'JONESY'S JUKEBOX' with Theodora Richards, Keith's daughter.
