Fr 3/27/2020- 6am to County Market:$85- DAY 11

Rain and thunderstorms in the forecast through Saturday. Today it should get to about 60 and tomorrow maybe 70.

I awoke just after 5am and I thought it might be a good idea to hit County Market. Senior Hours were 6am-8am and since it was raining, even less people would be in the store. I don't think that there were even twenty people in the store. One or two registers were open and obviously no lines. I will continue to only shop very early in the morning because it decreases the risk of exposure.
***I got two  packages of Cream of Wheat and one had a small hole in the container/bag. The girl tried to find another one, but none left. I took the package with the small leak.
***I forgot bar soap and went back to get it and used the self checkout. Couldn't get it to work, but with help, I got it to go.
***Unfortunately the liquor section does not open until 7am, but I am well stocked with beer.

Back at 7am and I'm sure there will be a nap later.

8am: Watched, 'THE PLATFORM' (Netflix). This Spanish film concerns a vertical prison called 'The Pit' with over three hundred levels (333 floors, 2 per floor = 666) . A descending platform (it stops for 2 minutes per floor) in the center of the cells holds the food and those at the top eat, and pass down their leftovers to the floors below. Some kind of metaphor that completely passed me by.
***I watched a YouTube video explaining the film. "Class warfare and how greed and selfishness can destroy society." "The food could be rationed, but greed wins out." "Sending thoughts and prayers does very little." "THE POWER STRUCTURE OF KINDNESS MUST START FROM THE TOP". "When we work together we can survive." I get it now....

***Tried to play a little Live Xfinity, and the selection is ridiculous. Everything seems designed to get you to 'pay to subscribe'. Forget about it!

Then, 'SOMEBODY FEED PHIL' (Netflix). Phil Rosenthal takes a tour of the street food markets and local restaurants of Thailand- Similar to David Chang's show. Phil Rosenthal is the creator of 'EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND'.

1215pm: A walk to Washington Park and then reading and napping. Right before I left Janny texted me to ask how I was doing, I replied, and then got her answer while I was in the park. Up Westview and down Parkview and counterclockwise around the park. AN HOUR AND FIFTEEN MINUTES.

On the couch to read and finish, 'THE SAINTS OF THE SHADOW BIBLE', and listened to VAN MORRISON and DYLAN'S- 'Biograph'. Then in the tub and began another Elizabeth Berg novel and listened to THE ORWELLS (Garage Rock from Elmhurst, Il. fell apart due to sexual misadventures) and THE OUTLAWS (A truly overlooked Southern Rock Band).

I was blown away by the album by the Orwells and I found a twenty minute documentary about the band called, 'THE ORWELLS: A HISTORY'. The narrator addresses the allegations of  'sexual improprieties' and whether they deserve to be referred to as, 'The Rapists'. No definitive answer, but I agree that they are a dynamite garage/rock band...More than a faint reflection of ,  'THE REPLACEMENTS'.

Then a YouTube documentary called, 'NEW YORK TIMES PHOTOGRAPHER- BILL CUNNINGHAM'-(57"). A truly gifted raconteur. I could listen to this guy talk for ever.
He feels that what most people understand as 'Fashion' ( runway models with extremely cartoonish outfits) is really not what defines the industry. 60% to 80% of their business is aimed and designed for what every day, real (although affluent) women want to buy and wear.
The era of women's hats ended in the fifties because wigs took over. I wonder if his observation is true.

Then an episode of , SOMEBODY FEED PHIL' (Netflix). Phil samples the exotic food of street food vendors in Saigon, Vietnam. He visited a bird park where people bring their birds and hang the cages together so that the birds can learn new songs from each other...BIRD COLLEGE...
