Mo 3/30/2020

Up 715am: Bright and sunny with temps to low 60's.

Watched, 'THE FORGOTTEN' (Hoopla). I tried to see this film last night, but the library had reached their limit. A woman is being treated for a severe delusion. She believes that she had a son, but it was apparently all in her mind. Then, we learn that she has been selected to be a part of a psychological experiment conducted by aliens with the help of various US security agencies like the NSA. She meets a man who has also lost a child to the same scheme. It only works if you suspend disbelief, and I'd only give it about a 'C'; with Julianne Moore, Gary Sinise, Dominic West (THE WIRE), and Alfre Woodard.

Finished, 'ONCE UPON A TIME,THERE WAS YOU'- Elizabeth Berg and listened to 'THE SWEETEST PUNCH'- Frisell/Costello, and wrote it up for the blog.

Then watched, 'THE CONVERSATION' (Kanopy). This is my last pick of the month. I'm able to add films to my 'Watchlist', but it prevented me from commenting. The film is about 'Dread' and 'Paranoia'. An audio surveillance expert 'for hire' suspects he's being used in a murder plot, yet his conscience won't let him stay out of it. The last scene is particularly haunting- he plays his sax in the wreckage of his apartment after he's torn it apart trying to find a bug; Gene Hackman, John Cazale, Frederic Forrest, Cindy Williams, Teri Garr, Harrison Ford, and Robert Duvall. Winner of Palme d'Or by director Francis Ford Coppola.

Wrote 'The Wrap' and sent it off.

4pm: Out for a walk. Headed down Westview and east on Lawrence. Then over to Edwards and straight downtown. Over to Monroe and then 7th south by the library to Lawrence, and straight west. At Pasfield Golf Course I went down the hill and walked the paths up to Fairway. Up Greenview and to Parkway and down Westview. ALMOST EXACTLY TWO HOURS.

Started, 'VIVA LA MADNESS' by the author of 'LAYER CAKE' on the couch for about 20", and then in the tub with more BRITISH VILLAINS and listened to BLACKIE AND THE RODEO KINGS (Canadian Roots Rock/ First song I thought it was Nick Lowe) and THE XX (British band similar to MASSIVE ATTACK).

Got an email from Janny saying that Jon might be infected and Whitney is mad at the rest of the Brandenburgs. Strange, strange times.

Watched, 'DRUNKS' (Amazon Prime). I did not write the following, but it's from a critical review and I totally agree:
"All the performances are good, but this isn't so much a movie as it is a series of well-written speeches by excellent actors. It's worth a look."...with Richard Lewis, Sam Rockwell, Amanda Plummer, Kevin Corrigan, Parker Posey, Dianne Wiest, Faye Dunaway, and Spalding Gray.

Then the penultimate episode of, 'BETTER CALL SAUL' (Netflix), Season 4.

And then an episode of, 'KITCHEN NIGHTMARES' (IMDB-TV). Gordon Ramsay tries to save an Italian, family run restaurant in Babylon, NY. Sister actually owns the store, but big brother plays the boss, acts like a prima donna, and does nothing but eat and drink.
