Up 820am: Partly cloudy with temps only to about 40.
Watched Netflix disc, 'LEAP YEAR'. A young Mexican female journalist is barely getting by and lives alone in a small apartment. She has no friends and picks up random strangers for sex, and meets a man who is into sadomasochistic behavior. She tries to use him to kill her on the anniversary of her father's death- Leap Year. Lots of nudity, but absolutely necessary to tell this harrowing story. Andrew O'Hehir of SALON- 'A gripping, mysterious use of no-budget cinema at its finest, and an intimate character study with surprising emotional power.'..."A compassionate story of human loneliness"... "A slow flare of emotional agony'. I really liked this film.
****Late yesterday the governor of Illinois announced a lockdown for the entire state. You can still shop for essentials and walk or jog outside, but you are supposed to 'shelter at home' for the rest of the time.
*****I screwed up my courage and checked my Ameriprise account. I had read online that I should expect about a twenty percent loss, and that's close to the truth. I have lost a half million dollars, but I'm still a millionaire. I feel a little better, so now I can focus all of my attention on avoiding the virus.

Spent some time filling out my 'Watchlist' at Kanopy and Amazon Prime.
Watched, 'LIKE SUNDAY, LIKE RAIN' (Kanopy). A twenty-something girl in NYC leaves her boyfriend, loses her job, and suddenly finds herself as an aupair to a very rich and very intelligent twelve year old boy on the upper west side. It's a very touching story about friendship, and although the ending was pretty weak (coronet/cello medley?), I really liked the film; with Julian Shatkin, Leighton Meester, and Billie Joe Armstrong (GREEN DAY). Directed by Frank Whaley. Leighton Meester is the star of a hit TV series, 'GOSSIP GIRL' (I've never seen it) and she was born while her mother was in prison for smuggling marijuana. Her sister and father were also involved in this smuggling operation.
I watched a couple of interviews about the film on YouTube.
Then watched a 22" YouTube video of The Stones- Paris 1985...rough video of them getting in and out of cars.
330pm: Walked to the Wabash PO to mail the video.
Just as I was leaving I got a call from Aetna. Walking down the street I answered questions about my health, but it seemed like they had me pegged as someone much older. I hung up before I completed the survey.
Over to Chatham Rd and straight south to the mailbox in front of the Wabash PO (why risk catching germs going into the post office?), and then straight back north on Chatham. I took Parkview west and back down Westview. JUST OVER AN HOUR AND A HALF.
Read more 'THE PLOT AGAINST AMERICA' on the couch and listened to JEFF BUCKLEY- 'Grace' and THE STONES- 'Some Girls'. Then in the tub with more ROTH and LOU REED- 'Transformer' and ALT-J.
Watched, 'HICK' (Amazon Prime). Thirteen year old Nebraska girl goes on the road with a collection of drunk and stoned crazies. It kind of captures the 'high and mighty' state of mind; with Chloe Grace Moretz, Juliette Lewis, Eddie Redmayne, Rory Culkin, and Alec Baldwin.
*****"TAKE ME DRUNK, I'M HOME"*****
Then watched the first episode of, 'TIGER KING- MURDER, MAYHEM, AND MADNESS' (Netflix). Zoos vs. Animal Preserves. One seems just as bad as the other. So many crazy people in a surprisingly lucrative business. This is going to be a great seven part series.
And then the next episode of Season Four, 'BETTER CALL SAUL' (Netflix).
