Tu 3/31/2020

Up 730am: Partly cloudy to just over 50.

I have two picks left on Hoopla, this is the last day of the month, yet the library has reached its' limit for today.

Watched, 'THE OCCUPANT' (Netflix). The film concerns one of the most dislikeable characters I've ever seen on film. A Spanish advertising executive is laid off and he must relocate his family to a much less chic apartment and he takes out his resentment on the family that moves into his old home. He's a sociopath and not only does he get back the apartment, but he wickedly engineers the death of the man, and marries his wife and befriends the young daughter. And, at the end of the film, his previous wife tries to expose him, but he prevails. Nasty and sinister to the max, yet an intriguing and compelling film. I loved it! In Spanish the film is called, 'Hogar' and that means 'Home' and I like that title even better.

Then watched, 'JENNIFER EIGHT' (Amazon Prime). Andy Garcia and Uma Thurman. Fleeing a bad divorce, an LA cop relocates to Eureka, CA and becomes involved in a serial murder case. The killer preys on blind women, and it turns out that the murderer is a fellow cop. It's far too convoluted and more than slightly unbelievable, but a great cast; with Andy Garcia, Uma Thurman, Kathy Baker, and John Malkovich. TITLE EXPLAINED: 'Jennifer' is police slang for the victim of a serial killer, and in this case there were eight of them.

3pm: PC is 'Off' and I'll read,'VIVA LA MADNESS' for an hour or so, and the the daily walk.

At 5pm I struck out for the park. Up Westview and down Parkview and up Washington Park. I headed east on Woodward (parallel to the panhandle) and north on MacArthur and down the side road and back into the park. I saw Bob, neighbor across the street, jogging by, and he said 'Hi, Ken'. Up the hill and north on Chatham to Parkview and up Westview. AN HOUR AND FIFTEEN MINUTES.

When I got home I noticed that my new rice cooker was on the breezeway on the steps to the kitchen door.

I spent about ten minutes unpacking the cooker and looking over the instructions. Seems simple enough, but I probably should have gotten a larger model. We'll see how it goes.

Then in the tub with more British Villany and listened to ALVVAYS and ALT-J.

Watched, 'BLOOD FATHER' (Netflix). An ex-con and his newly found teenage daughter dodge dangerous thugs in the American Southwest. Enjoyable, but hardly believable; with Mel Gibson, Diego Luna, William H. Macy, and Erin Moriarty.

Then the penultimate episode of, 'TIGER KING' (Netflix).

Then, 'KITCHEN NIGHTMARES' (IMDB-TV). Dillons, an "Irish/ Indian/ Italian" (?) restaurant in downtown NYC  gets the Ramsey treatment.
