Th 6/11/20- EMERGENCY CARE- KOKE!!
Th 6/11/20
Up 635 am: Bright and sunny with temps to low 80's.
Borrowed 'GINGER & ROSA' and 'EVERYBODY'S EVERYTHING' from Hoopla so that I could beat the cut-off for today.
Then I noticed that I could see a biography of Francis Bacon on Kanopy.
Watched, 'LOVE IS THE DEVIL- Study For A Portrait Of Francis Bacon' (Kanopy).
My post at Kanopy:
"The film is not so much a biography of the artist, Francis Bacon as it is a 'poisoned valentine' to his lover, George Dyer. And, although no paintings by Bacon were allowed in the film, the director and cinematographer have done a credible job of capturing the 'frozen motion' or 'after-imaging' inherent in his work. And, Tilda Swinton imperceptibly steals the show with her snarky characterization of Muriel Belcher, owner of the private and infamous drinking club, The Colony Room."
Then watched, 'EVERYBODY'S EVERYTHING' (Hoopla). Essentially this is a 'puff piece' about the punk/ rapper, Lil' Peep who died of a drug overdose in 2017. Both his mother and grandfather are so central to the film that it's hard to feel that they can fairly judge his life. Of course, they will see him in the most positive light and he's portrayed as a big-hearted artist who was completely unable to handle the people that surrounded him- maybe so, maybe not.
***Stock market plunges 1,500 points. Trump's policy of... "We'll do nothing and then the pandemic will magically disappear'... doesn't seem to be working.
130 pm: Rinse the car and then walk later. Maybe some reading...
230 pm. Done with car wash and in the living room reading PROJECT POPE.
***450 pm.. ON THE WALK...
KENYON/ PARKVIEW WHERE IT HAPPENED:
Two cars coming down Kenyon to the stop sign at Parkview. I let the first one go by and waited for the other one. Last guy waved me on, I crossed in front of his red pickup and when I turned to wave thanks, I fell.
Walked home. Called Emergency Care/ Koke. I was concerned about the deep cut on the bridge of my nose... Flap of skin...I thought that a butterfly bandage would do it, and I didn't have any. Surprised when the nurse/doctor? suggested stitches. My first in seventy one years.
510 pm At clinic. Dressed elbow, left knee, cuts to forehead and nose.
Got a tetanus shot because I couldn't remember if I'd had one within five years.
FOUR STITCHES
Slightly broken nose, but could be an old injury. I certainly don't feel like it's broken.
Home 630 pm.
***Earlier in the day I was listening to BLACKBERRY SMOKE- 'Leave A Scar'. A premonition?
In the tub CANNONBALL ADDERLEY and BONGRIPPER and reading PROJECT POPE.
Watched 50" of 'EXODUS- ASSORTED ATROCITIES' (YouTube). This is a two hour documentary about the San Francisco Bay area band, EXODUS. The guy that began METALLICA started in this band and the film is more or less, behind-the-scenes shenanigans about this top-tier heavy metal band.
And continuing the 'Heavy Metal' theme, I watched 'MOTORHEAD- THE BRONZE ERA (YouTube). ...That was the plan, but...Decided to finish 'HOARDERS' (Netflix)...5 beer night...
Then watched the rest of Episode 2; 'GARTH BROOKS: THE ROAD I'M ON' (Netflix). I feel nothing for this guy, he seems not at all real and very calculating. Strange how he so vehemently rubs me the wrong way. I awoke on Friday morning and listened to WMAY. Brooks is playing Knights Action Park as a 'drive-by concert' for a hundred bucks a car load.
