Up 7am: sunny to about 80. Beautiful!

Wrote up, 'WHEN GOD WAS A RABBIT'- Sarah Winman for the blog. Also, added 'New Miserable Experience'- THE GIN BLOSSOMS to the Mp3.

Then I watched, 'STRANGERLAND' (Kanopy).  My post at Kanopy:

"In a small Australian town at the edge of the desert, a fifteen year old girl and her brother go missing one night. It would seem that the film would evolve into a 'search and rescue' film, but it does not. The film is merely a vehicle to highlight the shattered and neurotic relationship of the parents. There's lots of high drama, but in the end it's just much ado about nothing and nothing is resolved; with Nicole Kidman, Joseph Fiennes, and Hugo Weaving.. " 

Then I watched, 'INTERVIEW'. A jaded reporter interviews a flighty soap opera star. The film is the snide and malicious discourse between the two in her NYC loft apartment and secrets are revealed; Steve Buscemi and Sienna Miller. This is a remake of a Dutch film and it's noteworthy because that director, Theo Van Gogh, was murdered by a Muslim terrorist.

I wrote up a reply to 'The Wrap' and sent it off and then watched the final segment of 'THE SEARCH' (Netflix).

330pm: PC is "Off" and preparing for the walk.
410pm. On the walk. Parkview, Oakmont, Country Club, Outer Park asphalt, Dial alley, Douglas, Walnut. Wash Pk. middle and up north side up hill, Parkview down to 940. TWO HRS. 5 MIN. Mp3. GIN BLOSSOMS, GRATEFUL DEAD. 

In the tub with STRAIGHT WHISKY. Listened to WILL KIMBROUGH, THE SHERMAN HOLMES PROJECT, ALLEN TOUSSAINT. 

Watched a YouTube documentary about the opioid crisis called, 'OXYANA' (1'18"). Pill addiction in Southern West Virginia with interviews of the people who live and use drugs in Oceana, WV. Compelling!

Then, HILLBILLIES, COALMINERS, TREEHUGGERS AND GOD' (YouTube- 27"). Another documentary of interviews of  'everyday people'. Small town West Virginians talk of coal mining and ecology. Some only want a job to feed their families and others want to stop the destruction of their beautiful environment.

We 8/15/18 Up 820am; overcast, clammy, and threatening. Rain predicted all day and tomorrow- none so far; 915am. (All day and barely a sprinkle- it was happening all around us, but nothing here) Watched  'SUSPECT ZERO' (Amazon Prime) Aaron Eckhart/ Ben Kingsley/ Carrie Anne Moss.  Eckhart plays a disgraced FBI agent who is being fed information by a serial killer. Seems to be Ben Kingsley, but he's not the killer, he's an ex-agent who can do 'remote viewing'. Not bad, but close, however excellent and creative charcoal drawings as the 'hints' to Eckhart's character.  Th 10/2/25 8am (1-LB: Diablo's Hearse). 10am (1-B: Citrus Mac). 1220pm (2-LB: Citrus Mac). 535pm (1-LB: Citrus Mac). 810pm (1-LB: Diablo's Hearse).  Up 715am: {took a dump at 4am}. Still unseasonably warm with a mix of sun & clouds. Watched 'MAGPIE' (Kanopy- borrowed 2 days ago).  It's basically a tale of 'Adultery & Revenge' although this isn't made clear until the last few minutes of the film. A wealthy couple live in a modern villa in the English countryside. He's a successful author, she is a housewife (she used to be in publishing) and their young daughter is co-starring in a big budget film that's being shot  near their home. Dad falls 'in lust' for the female star of the film, but his wife is several moves ahead. "69" Metascore and I would boost that to "80". Borrowed 'HOLY COW' and 'TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH' from Hoopla to meet my quota for September. Watched 'HOLY COW' (Hoopla). A troubled teen and his young sister try to make a go of it on their farmstead dairy after their father dies. It's got a strange tone and far from an average 'coming of age' tale. Set in far eastern France near the rural villages of Pimorin and Orgelet which are about 75 miles west of Geneva, Switzerland.
