Th 8/27/20- Dentist at noon

Th 8/27/20- Dentist at noon

I made the appointment late yesterday afternoon. It's not a toothache, but my gums are very sore on the front, lower right. This is where the tooth was filled during my last visit. My dental benefits have ended for this year and I'm apprehensive about today's visit.

Up 735am: Humid and hot- almost to 90 with a slight chance of rain early this afternoon.

I watched  'SHEPHERDS AND BUTCHERS' (Netflix). A very young South African prison guard murders seven black men and his defense is that he was mentally unstable due to his job in the execution chamber and his assignment of death row prisoners. Seven men hung at once and due to the barbarity of the practice, the death penalty was abolished in 1995. I wonder what the ratio of black to white was on South Africa's death row? A harrowing film, and an odd choice to have Steve Coogan as the defense lawyer, but he pulled it off beautifully.

***Mouse stopped working and I changed the battery and it was still not working. However, when I gave it a few minutes to 'shake hands' with the system it worked....I hope. (It did)

***Moved the watch to 'Thursday, 27', but will it stay at noon or advance at midnight? (It did not)

11am: Preparing for the dentist, and wondering if I am over reacting. Of course, on the day of the appointment the symptoms seem to be waning.

The tooth with the new filling is loose and infected. I was given a script for antibiotics and Extra Strength Tylenol with Codeine. I went to Fairhills County Market for beer, soda, cat food, cat litter, and juice. I won't have to do grocery shopping tomorrow. If the tooth stabilizes I can get a root canal for $2,500 or if not $500 with a kind of retainer which I don't think I would wear. I'm hoping for the more expensive solution.

2pm...reading in the living room

315pm...Parkview, Wash. Pk., Wiggins, Outer Park, North on Park, West on Laurel across McA, north on Holmes, north side of panhandle, up the hill, Parkview and down to 940. 2 HOURS... Mp3  'Cover' ~ Tom VERLAINE, DON CABALLERO, FLEETWOOD MAC.

Home to read downstairs and listening to a LIVE DEAD tape.

In the tub with DALEY and listening to THE NEW BASEMENT TAPES ~ excellent record; T Bone, Elvis, Jim James, and a Chocolate Drop... 2  'MY MORNING Jacket' albums, JIM JAMES 'Eternally Even'.

I watched the Netflix disc 'THE BURNT ORANGE HERESY'. "Hired to steal a rare painting from one of the most enigmatic painters of all time, an ambitious art dealer becomes consumed by his own greed and insecurity as the operation spins out of control."

A very interesting beginning: An art critic gives a lecture and convinces the audience that the impressionistic painting that he is showing them is a famous piece of art. It wasn't. He painted it himself and and by concocting a fascinating story, he had everyone believing that it was noteworthy; with Elizabeth Debiciki, Donald Sutherland, Clases Bang, and Mick Jagger.

Then the last episode of Season 2 of 'SELLING SUNSET' (Netflix).
