Up 730am: Cloudy early, then bright and sunny and chilly- to 50.
Watched 'BLACK COAL, THIN ICE' (Hoopla). A dizzying mix of 'Droll and Noir' in a film about an ex cop who re-opens a cold case that cost him his career. The intricate plot involves a beautiful young woman who works at 'Rong Rong Laundry' who ruined a leather jacket many years ago and felt she had to murder the owner because she couldn't afford to replace it. Her husband worked at the local coal plant and threw the body parts on a train bound for stops across the province to remove the evidence and confuse the authorities. The frigid winter weather and the shabby industrial settings really add to the tone and feel of the film. A 'difficult' Art Film that's worth the effort; dir. Yi'nan Diao.
Noon: An early walk and then back for a film and a session on the treadmill with The Joe Rogan Experience...Lawrence, Edwards, south on Glenwood to Fayette, up to Walnut and then west through Wash. Pk. all the way up the hill on the road, Parkview, and down to 940. ONE HOUR AND THIRTY MINUTES...Mp3...VAN MORRISON, THE JON SPENCER BLUES BAND.
Then watched 'CON AIR' (Amazon Prime). A clever script with some funny lines and out-of-this-world, mega-budget movie pyrotechnics, but nobody takes it too seriously. Convicts hijack their own transport plane and one prisoner must get to his only daughter's birthday party; with Nicolas Cage, John Malkovich, John Cusack, Ving Rhames, Steve Buscemi, Dave Chappelle, and Danny Trejo.
5pm: FOUR MILES... 1 HOUR 18 MINS... On the treadmill with RUSSELL BRAND on The Joe Rogan Experience.
In the tub with THE WHOLE Man (little to no reading, YouTube Notifications and in a trance by the music) and listening to ROCKET FROM THE CRYPT, ROGER MCGUINN, 'Circuit Rider' ~ with BILL FRISELL.
Watched 'LIFE WITH MURDER' (Amazon Prime). True Crime from Chatham, Ontario- 35 miles east of Detroit, MI. A young man claims that four assailants murdered his sister, but police quickly realize that not only did he shoot and kill his sister, but his parents were next...for the insurance. The 'twist' is that his parents never wavered in their devotion to him even after his conviction for murder. They continued to frequently visit him over the many years that he served in prison... "He is our son and part of our family and nothing can change that relationship"- A very strange tale.
