 Su 10/4/20

Up 630am, but read 'BLESSINGS' in bed until 730am.

Partly cloudy with temps to the high 50's.

I watched the remaining two hours of 'NEVER LOOK AWAY' and it is without a doubt one of the best foreign films I've seen in quite a while. A painter strives to portray his art in spite of other artists and authority figures who claim that ..."Painting is dead and no more relevant than making lace, folk dancing, or silent films". The best part is the beginning lecture about the negative aspects of 'degenerate art'. And the insane scenes of the artist's aunt being euthanized because three Nazi 'experts' judged her schizophrenic and not worthy of life. The film is over three hours in length, but never a dull moment. In 2019 the film was nominated for 2 Oscars and another 5 wins and 18 nominations.

Another tiny bong and then I watched 'MR. PIG' (Netflix). Diego Luna directs. An elderly hog farmer bids his old life adieu and skips to Mexico to sell his prize hog, but changes his mind when he witnesses life on a commercial hog farm. His grown daughter tracks him down and attempts to make him act responsible and then helps him. It's a 'road picture' that shows the more benign side of the Mexican/American border. Not soapy and strangely affecting; with Danny Glover and Maya Rudolph.

Added a couple of records to the Mp3 player from my Itunes folder on the Toshiba drive.

3pm: Will do the Weekly Cleanup and then walk downtown to drop off the disc at the Monroe PO box.

355pm...Edwards to Monroe PO and South on 4th/2nd, then west on Allen/Vine. Thru the park north side and up the hill, Parkview and down to 940. TWO HOURS. Mp3... DELANEY AND BONNIE /TALKING HEADS, THE ALPHA BAND, 'SORCERER' ~ MILES.

In the tub with Paul Krassner's book 'POT STORIES FOR THE SOUL', and listening to TELEKINETIC YETI,  PENTAGRAM, SOFT MACHINE.

Then I watched 'UP IN THE AIR' (Amazon Prime). An executive begins to have second thoughts about his career. He flys from city to city to lay people off from their jobs. Their lives are in ruins, but he just heads to the next airport lounge. NOMINATED FOR SIX OSCARS AND ANOTHER 76 WINS AND 163 NOMINATIONS; with George Clooney, Vera Farmiga, Anna Kendrick, Jason Bateman, J.K. Simmons, Sam Elliott, Zach Galifianakis, and Danny McBride.
