940 am. 345pm. 935 pm.
Up 720 am: Mostly sunny with temps almost to 20. Much warmer, yet it will be a few days before the temps rise above freezing.
Watched the last thirty minutes of 'CHARLIE WILSON'S WAR' (Amazon Prime). Directed by Mike Nichols, screenplay by Aaron Sorkin, from a book by George Crile. It still amazes me that one member of congress could have such an effect on America's foreign policy, but it really did happen.
Watched 'BLISS' (Amazon Prime). A wacky SF film that didn't even come close to a cinematic representation of a pretty good idea. What is reality and what is a simulation or was the whole film about a guy out of his head in rebab? 'MATRIX' territory, but not nearly as good; with Owen Wilson, Salma Hayek, and Bill Nye (THE SCIENCE GUY).
I watched the last episode of 'FLACK' (Season 2 has already been made and shown in the UK last April. It will be released on Amazon later in the year. The last episode of set at a wedding: A gay footballer is marrying a woman to hide his homosexuality, and a straight footballer is coming out as gay to make money on future deals and endorsements.
***Republic arrived 1250 pm.
110 pm: ON THE TREADMILL...4 Miles at 3.4 pace and finished 'CRIME SCENE: Disappearance at the Cecil Hotel' (Netflix) and more of TIM DILLON.
Read '1876' on the couch and then watched Netflix disc 'THE DRIFTLESS AREA'. An odd quirky story that's almost like a fable. A criminal is hired to torch a house and doesn't realize that a woman was house sitting and died in the fire. This woman is reincarnated (?) and falls in love with a young man that gets caught up in the celestial drama. The tone is somewhat playful, tongue-in-cheek noir. Filmed in the 'Driftless Area'; with Anton Yelchin, Zooey Deschanel, John Hawkes, Alia Shawkat, Frank Langella, and Aubrey Plaza. The term "driftless" indicates a lack of glacial drift, the material left behind by retreating continental glaciers; Southwestern Wisconsin, southeastern Minnesota, northeastern Iowa and extreme northwestern Illinois. I also received the Netflix disc 'PRECIOUS CARGO'.
6 pm: ON THE TREADMILL...2 Miles; most of episode 4 of 'CLOWN AND THE CANDYMAN'.
In the tub with '1876' and listening to THE STONE CANYON COYOTES. Mom, dad, and step-son. From Massachusetts, but very popular in Texas; Straight Ahead ROCK'N'ROLL. On Prime and a 30" concert on YouTube.
Watched Netflix disc 'PRECIOUS CARGO'. Lots of gunplay and I couldn't get into the story-line (either too confusing or I was too high). The characters were lurid composites of 'bad-tough-guy schtick'. Maybe it was about a gang boss and his ex-affiliates fighting to steal a cache of precious gems with an 'off-beat female empowerment love story' thrown in; with Bruce Willis, Claire Forlani. A very dull Bruce Willis film with few scenes of interest, although the Gag Reel (while the credits were rolling) was the best part of the film. Up until that point I didn't know that I had watched a comedy. I couldn't believe that the Bonus Features were almost an hour long.
