Mo 4/12/21- 'The Day The Mower Died'
1115 am. 1005 pm.
Up 815 am: Sunny, breezy with temps to mid 60's.
Messed around with calling Capitol Home Improvement...He said he'd call back and it's been over an hour. Called Adam and he will have Creasey get in touch.
I wrote 'The Weekly Wrap' and sent it off. First time that I've mentioned getting rid of the cassettes.
1130 am: Watched 'NIGHT IN PARADISE' (Netflix). A violent, slick, bloody, and entertaining South Korean gangster picture. A South Korean gangster's step-sister and niece are senselessly murdered and when he gets his revenge, the mob bosses sell him out. He flees to Jeju Island and befriends a young woman who is terminally ill. The film is shot on Jeju Island and the island is famous for their female divers who gather abalone and other seafood from the sea without scuba gear.
240 pm: Will do some raking of tulip petals and then mow the lawn for the first time this season. God, I hope the mower starts.
It took a while, but it finally started and I got the entire back lawn done; When I started to mow the front lawn at the abandoned house next door, the blade caught on something and got stuck on the interior frame brace. Then the rope to start the engine wouldn't pull and it needs to be rewound. I put a 'Free' sign on it and left it at the curb. Good riddance!
Then I drove to Lowe's and bought almost the same mower, only this one is green. I tried to put on the wheels and handle, but who am I kidding. $ 179 plus tax. I was surprised to see that there were plenty to choose from in all price ranges. I thought that due to the pandemic lawnmowers would be locked in warehouses all over the globe and there would be a wait time of many months.
Called my new lawn guy and he said one of his guys could assemble the mower and he'd do the front for $ 20. He's doing the neighbor's lawn around 10 am tomorrow.
ON THE TREADMILL... 5 Miles at 3.4 pace and watched a discussion on Artificial Intelligence.
745 pm: In the tub with HARRIS and listening to ERIC CLAPTON.
Then watched 'ROADIE' (Amazon Prime). A guy who falsely claims to be the manager of The Blue Oyster Cult (he's only a roadie with seniority) is kicked off their tour and fired. He comes home to his mother in Queens and thinks he will be regarded as a hero, but soon learns he's just a zero to himself and his old friends. A bit melodramatic and maudlin, but a compelling look at someone who lived life vicariously and never bothered to follow his own dreams. Filmed in Forest Hills, Queens, NY.
