Sa 4/24/21- Rooftop Tents Party
910am. 330pm. 10pm.
Up 805am: Light rain through this afternoon with temps to just over 60. Clear and sunny by 5pm.
Watched Netflix disc 'KAJILLIONAIRE'. When a family of low-level hustlers accept an outsider into their lives, their daughter begins to question what 'Family Values' actually mean. A difficult, yet wonderful film and directed by Miranda July....'The Breast Crawl'... "You can't see it because you're not of gentle birth"... 'This is NOT a cheap tie'... 'Old Dolio'- A homeless man 'was led to believe' if they named their baby after him, they would be included in his will. They didn't get anything because the old man spent it all on 'experimental' cancer drugs. 'BUBBLES, INC.'...; with Richard Jenkins, Debra Winger (completely unrecognizable), and Evan Rachel Wood.
***Birthday party for the little girl across the street toward Fairway began at noon. Lots of cars, little kids, and their parents. Because of the rain, the birthday girl's parents had two rooftop tents (a red and a blue) setup on their driveway at the end of the garage.
Watched some interviews and reviews of 'KAJILLIONAIRE' on YouTube.
1pm: ON THE TREADMILL...5 Miles at a 3.4 pace and watched the next episode of 'THEM' (Amazon Prime), then part of a WHITNEY CUMMINGS interview with KAT DENNINGS, and started WHITNEY CUMMINGS on ANDREW SANTION'S podcast.
Watched '24 HOURS TO LIVE' (Amazon Prime). An evil South African corporation has been using humans as test subjects for revival just after death. The downside is that your new life only lasts 24 hours.
"...devolves into testosterone-drenched, operatic silliness, the mix of bullets, blood and banter is dumb fun..."
From RogerEbert.com:
"...dialogue that sounds like it was written by a teenage boy. Watching the actor fight against the deep flaws of the film he’s in is almost more interesting than the plot itself. At least it’s more entertaining."; with Ethan Hawke, Qing Xu, Paul Anderson, and Rutger Hauer.
610pm: ON THE TREADMILL...2 Miles at 3.4 pace and watched more of WHITNEY CUMMINGS on 'Whiskey Ginger'.
In the tub with CITIZEN COHEN and listening to BLOODWYN PIG. Mick Abrahams does the entire first Jethro Tull album just to prove 'he was there'.
***Opened a new can of Pot this evening that's 26% THC. The last eighth lasted just about a month. I'm using the stuff so slowly that it might lose potency because I'm keeping it for so long- Get Smokin'!!
Watched 'TRUMBO' (Amazon Prime). A bio of blacklisted Hollywood writer, Dalton Trumbo and the story is told through his letters. Hollywood 'A-Listers' read his correspondence and regardless of what the letters are about, it shows that Trumbo was a tremendous communicator and an artist of the English language. Joe McCarthy's Senate committee allowed 'The Hollywood 10' to invoke the 1st Amendment and risk going to jail, or to invoke the 5th Amendment and losing any opportunity for work. Trumbo invoked his 1st Amendment right because he felt that no committee (or anyone else) had the right to tell him what he could or could not say; with Joan Allen, Brian Dennehy, Michael Douglas, Paul Giamatti, Nathan Lane, Josh Lucas, Liam Neeson, David Strathairn, and Donald Sutherland.
