Up 8am: Another sunny and breezy day with temps in the upper 50's.
Adam texted (842am today) Ryan's number at Creasey Construction and I left word for Ryan to call me and I recalled Taskmaster and he should call me back as well. Adam then texted that he wants to know the situation and if these guys can't do it, he will find someone else.
Watched 'EXISTENZ' (Kanopy). A virtual reality game designer and her PR person play the latest game to try and determine if her game universe has been compromised. But, it's all a game within a game, within a game. A great film with unusual sexual overtones that are lurid, distinctly alien, unconventional and decidedly repellent. While in the game some of the most mundane objects are moist, dripping, pliable, and fleshy and their 'clinical trial' is almost a send-up of what is generally regarded as a scientific enquiry. The film has moments of absolute hilarity within the gross and coarse gaming reality. "DEATH TO REALISM'. "Yeah, we're humming now!"... with Jennifer Jason Leigh, Jude Law, Ian Holm, Willem Dafoe, and Sarah Polley. Directed by David Cronenberg...3 wins & 14 nominations.
Watched the next episode of 'THEM' (Amazon Prime). Then I watched a thirty-two minute short on Netflix called 'TWO DISTANT STRANGERS'. A man awakes after a one night stand and when he leaves the girl's apartment, he is accosted by a cop and killed. When he comes to, he's back in the girl's bed and when he leaves, the same cop tries it again. They are all caught in a time loop and the cycle repeats endlessly. The theme is that racism is systematic and endemic.
245pm: Parkview, northside of Wash. Pk., Walnut, Holmes, Outer Park, Wiggins, Wash. Pk., up the hill, Parkview, Fairway, and up to 940...THE BLACK CROWES~ 'Southern Harmony', THE ROLLING STONES ~'Now', Early JOHN COLTRANE.
Reading 'Girls Like Us' in the living room.
7pm: In the tub with GIRLS LIKE US and listening to SAM COOKE, SYD STRAW.
Watched Netflix disc 'AMOUR DE FEMME'. A married Parisian woman with a young son falls in love with a femme fatale. They have an affair, the husband acts like an asshole, and the two women walk off together on a windswept beach in Normandy. Filmed in Paris and Normandy in 2001. Not a bad love story.
