Sa 10/30/21- Penny Lane Chillum

930am. 1250pm (a pinch). 245pm. 915pm.

Up 845am: Breezy, partly cloudy with temps to upper 50's.

Watched Netflix disc 'CHAOS WALKING'..."The Noise is a man's thoughts unfiltered, and without a filter a man is just chaos walking".  That description sounds almost exactly what it's like to have a 'green panic' on cannabis, but I guess that would be quite difficult to be filmed.  The story is from a very successful young-adult science fiction series by Patrick Ness. The protagonist, Todd Hewitt meets a girl from space who has crash landed on his planet which is 64 light years from Earth. The women on his planet have 'disappeared' and the men's thoughts can be heard by everyone. A somewhat novel presentation of the Information Overload in the real world of today, however I like my 'cannabis freak-out' explanation better. Not a very good film, but the concept was amazing and I wonder what Charlie Kaufman's (INSIDE THE MIND OF JOHN MALKOVICH, ADAPTATION, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND, SYNECDOCHE, NEW YORK) version would have been like; with Tom Holland, Daisy Ridley, and Mads Mikkelsen.Shot near Montreal and Quebec City, Canada. Reshoots in Atlanta, Georgia. The studio took such a loss on this film that there will most likely NOT be any more even though there were three books in the series.

Watched the first episode and a half of season 2 of  'MYTHOMANIAC' (Netflix). This is a French series that I liked, but season 2 is not as good. A woman fakes a serious illness to gain attention from her friends and family and season 2 examines the results of her deception.

230pm:  PC is 'Off'.

255pm: Planet Fitness...45" Cross. 45" Treadmill. 30" Bike.  30" Treadmill. 30"Cross.  Two episodes of  'KILLER MYSTERIES' (AMAZON PRIME), and an early SKEPTIC TANK- Don Barris's DING DONG SHOW at The Comedy Store, and part of a 'CHURCH OF THE WHAT'S HAPPENING '.

***PENNY LANE- Ten bucks for a one hitter that has a lid over the top. Perfect!

715pm: In the tub with VIDAL and listening to EDDIE FLOYD, THE FLYING BURRITO BROTHERS,  and part of a JOEY DIAZ podcast.

Watched 'ABOUT SCHMIDT' (Hoopla). My 3rd ALEXANDER PAYNE film in 36 hrs. and I'm lovin' it.  A sad and unhappy man retires, his wife dies unexpectedly, and he goes on a road trip in his motorhome to attend his daughter's wedding. Not as funny as 'SIDEWAYS' or 'CITIZEN RUTH', but seemed to be a little deeper and more moving. The film is based on a novel by Louis Begley. Years before,  Alexander Payne had come up with the idea of a recently retired man who feels he has wasted his life. Payne tried to get his treatment made into a movie, but the project was rejected. When Begley's novel was published Payne got the rights and combined it with his screenplay to make this award winning film; with Jack Nicholson, Hope Davis, Dermot Mulroney, and Kathy Bates. Nominated for 2 Oscars, 25 wins & 71 nominations.
