Tu 2/15/22

8am. 1240pm. 530pm (a pinch). 730pm.

Up 630am: Partly sunny with temps almost to 50.

Paid the credit card.

Watched Netflix disc 'THE LAST FULL MEASURE'. A government official is persuaded to look into the matter of a posthumous Medal of Honor for an American soldier who died in Vietnam decades previously. The movie is a somewhat inept ode to courage and honor that fails to resonate. A star-studded cast, yet the film is predictable to a fault and all of the shopworn clichés about bravery are scrutinized; with Sebastian Stan, William Hurt, Christopher Plummer, Dian Ladd, Samuel L. Jackson, Amy Madigan, Peter Fonda, Ed Harris, and Bradley Whitford. I didn't dislike the film, but it did not ring true. War is the failure of diplomatic statecraft and these fighting men suffered because little was done to prevent the conflict in the first place and why this  happened would have made a better film. The concept of war will not fade away until people begin to end the glorification of violence in the name of god and country.

I finished the last 20 minutes of the last episode of 'NARCOS- Mexico'- season 2 (Netflix) that I began watching last night.

Watched the first 21 min. episode of 'OATS STUDIOS- Rakka' (Netflix). Oats Studios is an independent film studio formed by South African filmmaker Neill Blomkamp. He makes short films with name actors to see if there is interest in making feature films based on these shorts. Sigourney Weaver and Dakota Fanning were featured in the first episode. Earth is colonized by aliens and American patriots fight back. Excellent special effects and I'm sure that this one could be made into something more substantial. I'd vote yes.

1210pm: PC is 'Off' and preparing to mail the disc.

1250pm: Downtown to mail back the disc. Out Governor back Edwards...ONE HOUR AND 45 MINS...Mp3- 'Agartha'; 'Black And Blue'; 'Blue Blvd.'.

Reading 'Crazy Fingers' on the couch and listening to MILES DAVIS.

445pm: TWO MILES AT 4.0 PACE AND 0.50 SLANT and watched more of right wing wacko, DAVE SMITH on J.R.E.

535pm: In the tub with 'Crazy Fingers' and listening to more MILES; 'Blow By Blow- JEFF BECK.

Watched 'EVELYN' (Netflix). A family deals with the suicide of Evelyn (their brother and son) by hiking across Scotland and the South Lakeland district of Cumbria, England. Not a bad film and the rainy and cloudy hill country was beautiful, but I lost interest at 45 mins.

Then I began (episode #1 and part of episode #2) 'HIT & RUN' (Netflix). An American woman in Tel Aviv is killed while walking across the street and her husband and the authorities begin to believe that it was more than a mere traffic accident. I'll probably see this one through to the end.
