Sa 4/23/22- First Lawn Mowing of 2022
Sa 4/23/22
935am (1). 1235pm (1). 235pm (1). 645pm (1).
Up 630am: Sunny and windy with temps to low 80's. Warmest day of the year...so far.
Read a little of 'THROUGH A GLASS DARKLY' with a cup of instant coffee and then mowed the lawn for the first time this season with the usual anxiety about whether the mower will start.
***8am-9am: Everything went without a hitch. The mower started with the first pull and seven pushes on the 'red pump'.
Watched 'THE TURNING POINT' (Netflix). A thief has just robbed a crime family's money collector and he forces his way into a young man's apartment. The two men develop a bond and it's kind of a rift on the 'Stockholm Syndrome' in that the impulsive and 'alpha-type' thief helps the reclusive slacker develop a little toughness and take control of his life. A very bleak ending because both men die, and the submissive guy's beautiful comic book is left out in the rain. Filmed in the Garbatella urban zone of Rome, Italy which is an area of densely populated housing projects built during the 1930's.
The young couple down the street with the little baby and the red pickup truck (he leaves for work at 630am daily) had a party beginning about noon and it's still going at 6pm.
1210pm: PC is 'Off' and preparing for a walk to the Monroe PO to mail back last night's disc.
145pm: Out Edwards, Monroe PO, Edwards, Park, Fayette, Parkview, and down to 940...ONE HOUR AND 45 MINUTES...Mp3..'AGARTHA'- Miles Davis; 'Beggars Banquet'- Rolling Stones.
Reading 'THROUGH A GLASS DARKLY'.
4pm: TWO MILES AT 4.0 PACE AND 1.50 SLANT and more of YANNIS PAPPAS on LONG DAYS.
450pm: In the tub with 'THROUGH A GLASS DARKLY' and listening to LARS JANSSON; BETTY DAVIS.
Watched 'WE ARE X' (Amazon Prime). A solid documentary about the biggest band in Japan, 'X-JAPAN' that for various reasons could not gain an international following. Gene Simmons says that they could have been the most popular band in the world if they had been born in England or America. Gene also believes that "Rock 'n' Roll is meant to be sung in English". X- JAPAN'S music is the corny theatricality of Kiss and The New York Dolls and the guitar wizardry of GUNS AND ROSES mixed with a ton of glitter. And, you can't forget the inspiration provided by David Bowie, Alice Cooper, and The Stooges.
Then watched 'HOW TO CATCH A SERIAL KILLER' (Amazon Prime). Christopher Halliwell is arrested on suspicion of murder and confesses to another murder before he was informed of his rights. His confession was ruled inadmissible because he wasn't notified of his right to an attorney. The body was buried in a field and he told the police where it was, so how could he have been anyone else but the murderer. These crimes happened near Swindon, England which is about 80 miles west of London.
