Up 530am: Partly sunny with temps to mid 80's. A brutal heatwave is on the way and by Wednesday the temperature could reach 100 degrees!
Wrote up 'LILY WHITE' by Susan Issacs for the blog.
Watched 'POLAR' (Netflix). Based on a 'graphic novel' and chock full of cartoonish bloodshed. An assassin for hire is ending his career but his employer puts a hit out on him so that he can renege on pension benefits. An odd premise for such a violent mess; with Mads Mikkelsen and some other people. '19 METASCORE' but I think the critics were trying to take it far more seriously than was intended. The end credits roll from bottom-to-top instead of top-to-bottom and this seemed more jarring to me than the whole movie.
Watched more of 'TWO SUMMERS' (Netflix).
1030am: i3 Broadband said we're here to bury you! The Internet will be off for ten minutes so I decided to shut it down.
1105am: To library; out Governor and back Edwards...SAVOY BROWN; GRATEFUL DEAD Playlist.
***When I returned to the Internet after the walk downtown it was Tip Top Magoo...
Steve the cashier? I gave him two trades and four paperbacks. That should have been $2 for the traders and two bucks for the paperbacks at fifty cents a piece. He said "6 bucks for 6 books". I gave him a ten and he gave me a five back. I gave him a one dollar bill and he still didn't know what was going on. I got out of there...He was busy and far, far over his head; A Jane Austen and a William Burroughs.
Home to sign them in to the system; 2 HOURS AND 25 MINUTES TOTAL.
4pm: TWO MILES AT 4.1 PACE AND 1.50 SLANT and a SKEPTIC TANK with STEVE RANNAZZISI.
450pm: In the tub to begin THE RAVEN by Michael Connelly and listening to ELLIOTT MURPHY; 'Imperial Bedroom'/ 'Trust'- ELVIS COSTELLO.
Watched Netflix disc 'BLOOD AND MONEY'. In contemporary Maine an old hunter accidentally shoots a woman while deer hunting. Later it's revealed that she was part of a crew that had recently robbed a local casino and soon the hunter becomes the hunted; with Tom Berenger. Pretty corny and the less than average reviews were deserved-'40 METASCORE'.
From the Boston Globe:
"A sludgy action thriller with an out-of-shape star, Blood and Money doesn’t have a lot going for it other than its setting: the uncharted north Maine woods in the dead of winter."
