Watched Netflix disc 'THE LODGE'. An extraordinary horror film that could be seen as a cautionary tale about the trauma that suicide inflicts on the family and society (the suicide of the cult members, the suicide of the kids' mother).  Why do many believers view suicide as 'the worst sin'?  1) If you're dead the 'elders' no longer have any power over you.  2) It's not your soul. You're only 'renting'. The winter landscape adds to the cold dread that penetrates every scene in the film; Riley Keough, Jaeden Martell, Lia McHugh, Richard Armitage, and Alicia Silverstone. Filmed near Montreal, Canada.

For a complete change of pace I noticed that Jaeden Martell stars in a film about some kids that start a rock band, so it's next up.

Watched 'METAL LORDS' (Netflix). A clever (adorable?) and discerning teen flick about the much maligned  musical genre of Heavy Metal.  A couple of friends form a band (guitar, drums, & cello) and try to adopt the aggressive attitude and macho posturing as a template to navigate their teen years; with Jaeden Martell, Adrian Greensmith, and  Isis Hainsworth. Cameo appearances by members of Prophets of Rage, Audioslave, Metallica, Judas Priest, and Anthrax. The film was released in 2022 and 'Covid Monitors' were listed in the end credits. Filmed near Portland, Oregon.  

1230pm: PC is 'Off' and preparing for a walk on the treadmill. I will mail back the disc tomorrow at the Wabash PO when  I hit Planet Fitness for the workout.

Finished BERT KRIESHER on J.R.E. and began SHANE GILLIS on J.R.E.

Began 'STATELESS' (Kanopy). Politicians in the Dominican Republic try to prevent Haitians from their rightful citizenship. Dominicans feel that they are superior to Haitians with a darker skin color and they want them to stay in Haiti. Shut it down at one hour and five minutes with 20 minutes left to go.

We 8/15/18 Up 820am; overcast, clammy, and threatening. Rain predicted all day and tomorrow- none so far; 915am. (All day and barely a sprinkle- it was happening all around us, but nothing here) Watched  'SUSPECT ZERO' (Amazon Prime) Aaron Eckhart/ Ben Kingsley/ Carrie Anne Moss.  Eckhart plays a disgraced FBI agent who is being fed information by a serial killer. We 4/23/25- Gummy 645am {I took 1/4 of a 200 mg of 'DIET SMOKE' gummy: 50 mg total}. 650am (1-LB: Cookie Bread). 910am (1/2-LB: Cookie Bread).  1220pm (1-LB: Panama Punch). 535pm (1-LB: Permanent Marker). 815pm (1-LB: Permanent Marker).  Up 545am: A mix of suny & clouds with temps to about 80. Finished 'SIGNS' (Netflix). Clearly the drama hasn't ended, and I hope there will be infinite new seasons. {No such luck. I couldn't find anything about a third season}.
