Up 515am: Partly cloudy with temps to mid 80's. 

Watched 'THE YELLOW BIRDS' (Netflix). A low key film about the psychological horror and unsettling things that occur on and off the field of battle.  The film is kind of a contemporary  thematic update of 'The Red Badge of Courage' by Stephen Crane or (the novel I'm reading now) 'Confederates' by Thomas Keneally in that it demonstrates that how men in combat deal with the fear of dying hasn't changed all that much; with Alden Ehrenreich, Tye Sheridan, Jack Huston, Toni Collette, and Jennifer Aniston. 1 win & 2 nominations. "56" Metascore. 

***I noticed Charlie (the beagle from across the back fence) was standing in the back corner of my yard and it looked like the back gate was slightly open. Around 430pm I closed the gate and used duct tape to prevent it from being opened. 

Began 'THE PLAYING CARD KILLER' (Netflix- 3 part series). Watched through 7 minutes into episode #3. 

1135am: PC is 'Off' and not sure whether it's a walk outside or the treadmill. Tired today.

I had to run the Windows Updates again and it required a restart.

I decided to do the treadmill and then hit Walmart for all the stuff I need; candles, phone cord, etc.

1210pm: FIVE MILES AT 4.0 PACE AND ZERO SLANT; finished NIKKI GLASER on WHISKEY GINGER;  finished Noel from OASIS interview about his guitars; began an old 'Church' with JOEY DIAZ. 

2pm: To Fairhills & home by 230pm- beer, incense,  ginger ale, 2 big candles & 2 pks. of votive, 2 hand towels, 2 deodorants.

Reading 'CONFEDERATES'

345pm:  TWO MILES AT 4.0 PACE AND ZERO SLANT; finished 'CHURCH OF WHAT'S HAPPENING'.

445pm: In the tub with 'CONFEDERATES' and listening to YO LA TENGO- 'I Can Hear...'; YOUNG RASCALS Playlist; ZZ TOP Playlist; JOHNNY WINTER Playlist. 

Finished 'IDENTITY THIEF' (Amazon Prime). Only somewhat funny at the very most. 'C Minus' or 'D Plus'.

More 'THE PLAYING CARD KILLER' (Netflix).   I shut it down with 17 minutes left to go in the final segment. I will finish this tomorrow morning.

We 8/15/18 Up 820am; overcast, clammy, and threatening. Rain predicted all day and tomorrow- none so far; 915am. (All day and barely a sprinkle- it was happening all around us, but nothing here) Watched  'SUSPECT ZERO' (Amazon Prime) Aaron Eckhart/ Ben Kingsley/ Carrie Anne Moss.  Eckhart plays a disgraced FBI agent who is being fed information by a serial killer. Seems to be Ben Kingsley, but he's not the killer, he's an ex-agent who can do 'remote viewing'. Not bad, but close, however excellent and creative charcoal drawings as the 'hints' to Eckhart's character.  Th 10/2/25 8am (1-LB: Diablo's Hearse). 10am (1-B: Citrus Mac). 1220pm (2-LB: Citrus Mac). 535pm (1-LB: Citrus Mac). 810pm (1-LB: Diablo's Hearse).  Up 715am: {took a dump at 4am}. Still unseasonably warm with a mix of sun & clouds. Watched 'MAGPIE' (Kanopy- borrowed 2 days ago).  It's basically a tale of 'Adultery & Revenge' although this isn't made clear until the last few minutes of the film. A wealthy couple live in a modern villa in the English countryside. He's a successful author, she is a housewife (she used to be in publishing) and their young daughter is co-starring in a big budget film that's being shot  near their home. Dad falls 'in lust' for the female star of the film, but his wife is several moves ahead. "69" Metascore and I would boost that to "80". Borrowed 'HOLY COW' and 'TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH' from Hoopla to meet my quota for September. Watched 'HOLY COW' (Hoopla). A troubled teen and his young sister try to make a go of it on their farmstead dairy after their father dies. It's got a strange tone and far from an average 'coming of age' tale. Set in far eastern France near the rural villages of Pimorin and Orgelet which are about 75 miles west of Geneva, Switzerland.
