Watched 'THE KINGDOM' (Netflix). FBI sends agents to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to investigate a terrorist attack that might have been run by rival factions within the Saudi hierarchy. "We're going to kill all of them"...An FBI boss uses this brutal sentence as reassurance and an old terrorist used the same violent phrase to his grandson as he was dying. At the end of the movie you are left with the feeling that there is no way out of the conflict but a 'fight to the death' is not a sane solution to differences of culture, religion, and ideology; with Jamie Foxx, Chris Cooper, Jennifer Garner, Jason Bateman, Jeremy Piven, Richard Jenkins, Kyle Chandler (BLOODLINE), and Danny Huston."56" Metascore.From the Austin Chronicle:"If the jingoism that permeates the latter half of The Kingdom does not sufficiently sour the experience of watching it, then the film's closing sentiments about the eternality of vengeance will surely do the trick."

1005am: PC is 'Off' and preparing for a walk on the treadmill. It looks like the rain has passed us by. 

1030am: FIVE MILES (1st 3 miles at 3.8. I just forgot to bump it up. 2 extra minutes to do 3 miles & 4.0 PACE the final 2 miles AND ZERO SLANT; twelve minutes left in film; began JOE ROGAN on THEO VON.

Reading 'CONFEDERATES'

An hour and a half after eating 15mgs & not feeling much, I decided to walk Washington Park to kick things into a higher gear.

Finished the last twelve minutes of 'WE'RE THE MILLERS' (Netflix). A dime bag cannabis dealer is forced to drive a RV full of weed from Mexico across the border into the states. He recruits a couple of women and a teenage boy to act as his family so that the border guards will think they are just a family on vacation; with Jason Sudeikis, Jennifer Aniston, Emma Roberts, Ed Helms, Will Poulter, Nick Offerman, Kathryn Hahn, and Luis Guzman. 4 wins & 17 nominations. "44" Metascore.

More 'VORTEX' (Netflix). I shut it down 14 minutes into episode #6, the final chapter. It seems like every other person in the series has been a suspect. The killer looks like it might be a guy who secretly loved her since they were kids. But, it wouldn't surprise me if it turns out to be someone else.

We 8/15/18 Up 820am; overcast, clammy, and threatening. Rain predicted all day and tomorrow- none so far; 915am. (All day and barely a sprinkle- it was happening all around us, but nothing here) Watched  'SUSPECT ZERO' (Amazon Prime) Aaron Eckhart/ Ben Kingsley/ Carrie Anne Moss.  Eckhart plays a disgraced FBI agent who is being fed information by a serial killer. Seems to be Ben Kingsley, but he's not the killer, he's an ex-agent who can do 'remote viewing'. Still unseasonably warm with a mix of sun & clouds. Watched 'MAGPIE' (Kanopy- borrowed 2 days ago).  It's basically a tale of 'Adultery & Revenge' although this isn't made clear until the last few minutes of the film. A wealthy couple live in a modern villa in the English countryside. He's a successful author, she is a housewife (she used to be in publishing) and their young daughter is co-starring in a big budget film that's being shot  near their home. Dad falls 'in lust' for the female star of the film, but his wife is several moves ahead. "69" Metascore and I would boost that to "80". A troubled teen and his young sister try to make a go of it on their farmstead dairy after their father dies. It's got a strange tone and far from an average 'coming of age' tale.
