A frustrating day
***Just as I was ready to start the 'morning movie' my right ear sealed up nearly completely. I went to the medicine closet but could not locate the green rubber 'ear bulb'. I looked all over and never found it. But later in the morning I noticed that the ear cleaning kit that I was looking for was on the bookshelves above the toilet. The ear product that I had in the closet was a second kit that didn't come with a bulb. I didn't use the bulb until the bath after the workout.
***When I got to Planet Fitness I could not get on Netflix, Spotify, or Amazon Prime Music (for some reason I could get Amazon Prime), but I had a strong internet signal. I watched a complete 'TUESDAYS WITH STORIES' and a bunch of other comedy podcasts on YouTube. It was as if they targeted certain sites to not work. When I left I asked a clerk who said that they were aware of the problems and they had an IT person come in to make 'it better' but he only made it worse. I wonder how long it will take to fix the problem this time. It was out for several weeks last year.
Up 545am: Cloudy and cool with temps only to about 80.
***Buddy was sick in the hallway (not on the rug) and it was clearly caused by hairballs.
Watched Netflix disc 'AMERICAN ASSASSIN'. A young man's fiance is murdered during a terrorist attack at a tourist resort on the island of Ibiza. He vows to seek revenge on every terrorist group on the planet, but he's too volatile for his US handlers. Nuclear material falls into the hands of the enemy and the young hot-headed assassin must adapt to become part of the team; with Dylan O'Brien, Michael Keaton, Sanaa Lathan, and Taylor Kitsch. Metascore "45". It was easy to watch, but clearly no new ground was broken.
IndieWire:
"In American Assassin, the violence is surprising and brutal. However, its impact is stymied by a predictable script and action sequences that feel like a watered-down version of “John Wick.”
Finished 'PERDIDA' (Netflix). It has an almost overplayed sincere & heartfelt ending that was pure melodrama. A truly nifty Spanish/ Columbian series.
1115am: The PC is 'Off' and the plan is to do the weights and then hit Planet Fitness & mail back the disc.
Weights: 3 sets/ 15 reps
1205pm: To Planet Fitness. 45"Cross. 45"Treadmill. 30"Bike. 30"Treadmill. 30"Cross; AN INTERNET CONNECTION BUT NOT NETFLIX OR AMAZON PRIME Why?; a complete TUESDAYS WITH STORIES; MARK NORMAND on 'Ian With Jordan' and a bunch of fragments on YouTube.
445pm: In the tub with 'THE WATER IS WIDE' and listening to CANNONBALL ADDERLEY- 'Black Messiah'; PAUL WELLER- 'Heavy Soul'; STYLE COUNCIL Playlist.
More of 'KYLE DUNNIGAN on Whiskey Ginger
Finished 'AN AMERICAN TRAGEDY' (Amazon Prime) that I began at Planet Fitness. A seventeen year old girl worked the night shift at a Mobil station in a western suburb of St. Louis. In the winter of 1992 she was kidnapped, raped and murdered as she was closing the station. The documentary interviews the killer on death row and he seems like a changed man. Is he really a 'new man' or is it just an elaborate con? He was executed by lethal injection after exhausting all of his appeals. The murdered girl's father seems very much changed by the whole incident and forgives his daughter's killer and even tries to comfort the killer's daughter. The film makes the case that no one is either all Evil or all Good.
