***Around 4am. Buddy threw up in the hallway just outside my bedroom door. He ate normally when I got up and seemed fine. 

Up 545am: Cloudy with temps to about 32 degrees, but temperatures will barely break single digits on Friday and Saturday.

Watched 'ALONERS' (Hoopla). A young woman works as a service rep and realizes that she has become a ghost in her own life. Sub-Plots: 1) Her apartment neighbor died after being crushed under an avalanche of porn magazines. She has a couple of conversations with his ghost.  2) She installs a secret recording device in her father's living room to find out if he was decent to her mother. He was, and much more. I thought this was a very moving tale and like nothing else.  "72" Metascore; 10 wins & 10 nominations. Shot in South Korea.

Watched 'THANK YOU, I'M SORRY' (Netflix). A very pregnant woman learns that her husband wants to 'take a break' from the relationship. He dies in his sleep that night and this only reinforces her belief that people are not dependable and will always leave. Very witty dialogue makes for a sweet and heartfelt film.  Memorable Scenes:  1) A five year old boy calls out for a dog named 'Satan' as the people are leaving his dad's funeral. 2) The boy calls his aunt 'Uncle Linda'. 3)  When his mom tells him that his dad is dead, he says 'we can still call him'..."My dad is going to be burned. They're going to put him in an oven"...  Filmed in Stockholm, Sweden.

***Ten minutes of screwing around with 'Source' on the downstairs PC. Why is it coming on with the fucking TV? I did a 'Restart' after I got it back and I hope it will 'Start' correctly tomorrow.

We 8/15/18 Up 820am; overcast, clammy, and threatening. Rain predicted all day and tomorrow- none so far; 915am. Still unseasonably warm with a mix of sun & clouds. Watched 'MAGPIE' (Kanopy- borrowed 2 days ago).  It's basically a tale of 'Adultery & Revenge' although this isn't made clear until the last few minutes of the film. A wealthy couple live in a modern villa in the English countryside. He's a successful author, she is a housewife (she used to be in publishing) and their young daughter is co-starring in a big budget film that's being shot  near their home. Dad falls 'in lust' for the female star of the film, but his wife is several moves ahead. "69" Metascore and I would boost that to "80". A troubled teen and his young sister try to make a go of it on their farmstead dairy after their father dies. It's got a strange tone and far from an average 'coming of age' tale.
