705am (2-B). 8am (1-SB). 12pm (2-B). 540pm (2-B). 815pm (2-B).
Up 550am: Partly cloudy with temps to about 50.
***I set up an 'Alert' with my Heartland accounts and it took less than a minute. I still can't believe that they offer this service because it would seem to eliminate late fees. Maybe not.
Spent some time in the belly of Hoopla and discovered a few decent films to mark as 'faves'.
***9am: Call from Tony. The reason that the belt is slipping is that it's still coated with oil. Wiping the belt didn't work because you can only get off so much, and I'm going to need a new drive belt; $100 service call and the belt is under warranty.
Watched 'THE CONTENDER' (Hoopla). A female US senator is involved in a lengthy confirmation process for the vice presidency and evidence is found that she willingly participated in an orgy in college. She refuses to speak of the incident or even to address the issue because she feels that it's her personal sex life and nobody's business. The other side paints her as untrustworthy and immoral. Will sticking to her 'right to privacy' be accepted by the public, or will she be seen as indecent and unqualified? This is the kind of film that makes you want to discuss the ethical and moral issues presented; with Joan Allen, Gary Oldman, Jeff Bridges, Chistian Slater, Sam Elliot, William Petersen, Philip Baker Hall, and Mariel Hemingway. Nominated for 2 Oscars; 1 win & 22 nominations. "59" Metascore.
The description of this new series was so strange that I decided to give it a shot.
Began '3 BODY PROBLEM' (Netflix). I shut it down 42 minutes into episode #1. So far, so good and I'll keep going on this series.
1110am: The PC is 'Off' and the plan is to hit Planet Fitness, mail the insurance questionnaire, and then stop at DMV for a new vehicle sticker. [$151.00]
Weights: 3 sets/ 15 reps.
1210pm: To Planet Fitness...45"Cross, 45"Treadmill, 30"Bike, 30" Treadmill, 30"Cross; watched 3 episodes of 'HOMICIDE: NewYork' (Netflix)- 1) Female pot dealer and 3 of her friends are executed in her apartment in midtown. 2) A pair of fifteen year olds hack to death a forty year old man and dump the body in the Central Park pond. 3) A cleaning lady goes missing while working the nightshift in a building on Wall Street; an old TUESDAYS WITH STORIES.
340pm: To DMV- just a few minutes, but an accident at Wabash & Chatham had me backtracking in Leland Grove.
Reading 'VIENNA BLOOD'
545pm: In the tub with "VIENNA BLOOD" and listening to PIL- 'Metal Box'; CREAM- 'Gold' Compilation.
More ancient 'TUESDAYS WITH STORIES'
More 'IRON REIGN' (Netflix). The Manchado Family control the Barcelona docks. The uncle and nephew (both thought the other had 'the czar's mail') get into an epic knife fight and they both are mortally wounded at the fish market. This is one of the bloodiest series that I've ever seen. Also, there is a wild and wooly Santeria ceremony that is darkly psychedelic and very creepy. Lucia's brother is convinced that Death is waiting for him in Barcelona and he thinks that the voodoo will keep him safe. I think he is living on borrowed time.
