Watched 'LAYLA M.' (Netflix). A teenage Muslim woman living in Amsterdam with her parents has become much more conservative than her family. She marries a young militant, they head to Syria and the Middle East, but the repressive nature of this version of Allah's 'Good News For Modern Man' becomes too much for her. The movie ends as she seeks repatriation, but the authorities want to treat her as a terrorist.  Theme: Europe is faced with the problem of what to do with kids who want to return home after abandoning their radical beliefs. Should they be punished or forgiven? A great film and the lead actress was stunning. Filmed in Amsterdam, Jordan, Netherlands, and Belgium. 6 wins & 8 nominations.

More of 'CRIMINAL: France' (Netflix).  I watched the first two chapters and each episode is a recording of a police interrogation. 1) Boss lady and union worker are on a jobsite. Worker dies and the boss lady is blamed. Although they were secret lovers, he died because he fell off the building because he was trying to speed up productivity. She was pushing the workers too hard and that's what killed him although she is not prosecuted. 2) A gay man is beaten to death and another man is picked up. The suspect says he had never seen the murdered man, but he was lying. He was trans and wearing women's clothing when he was with the murdered gay man. They were attacked by a group of hoodlums and now he has to reveal his orientation to his wife and family.

1145am: The plan is to do the weights and then walk to Heartland for $200 for weed. Although I have a month's supply, I want more on hand.

A woman running for office (city or state?) knocked on the front door (rang the bell and that hasn't worked in ages) and gave me her promotional flyer. She asked me if there were cicadas in the area. She said they seemed like they were coming from nextdoor. She's probably confused by the frogs. 

While I was taking a bath Buddy threw up on the hallway carpet. It has been many days since he's been sick and I hope this is not a downturn. It seems like everytime I think he's in the clear, I increase his intake and he gets sick.

More 'LUPIN' (Netflix). I shut it down 30 minutes into episode #4. Omar Sy is a terrific actor and I wonder if he does English roles?

Watched 'MAGPIE' (Kanopy- borrowed 2 days ago).  It's basically a tale of 'Adultery & Revenge' although this isn't made clear until the last few minutes of the film. A wealthy couple live in a modern villa in the English countryside. He's a successful author, she is a housewife (she used to be in publishing) and their young daughter is co-starring in a big budget film that's being shot  near their home. Dad falls 'in lust' for the female star of the film, but his wife is several moves ahead. "69" Metascore and I would boost that to "80".
