Up 530am: Mostly sunny & humid with temps to the low 90's, but today marks the end of the hot weather streak and temps only to low 80's beginning tomorrow. [Torrential downpour just after 4pm}. It was supposed to really storm around 9pm, but it missed us.

***I bought a 5 cup brewed coffee maker from Amazon: $20 with free delivery, tomorrow.  My old one is getting old and rusty and it held 12 cups, but I never brewed that much coffee and will see if the 5 cup capacity will be adequate. 

  Watched 'AFIRE' (Kanopy). Two friends visit a seaside cottage by the Baltic Sea in northern Germany. It is supposed to be a 'work vacation', but one of the guys wants to have fun and the other guy is 'all work and no play'. A young woman is also staying in the house and later her boyfriend (?) and a publisher show up. It's a complex & layered 'dialogue driven' film and surprisingly compelling. The dangerous forest fire lurks in the background and only adds to the tension. The film was shot in Ahrenshoop, Germany which is on the coast in the north of the country approx. 150 miles west of Hamburg. 9 wins & 24 nominations. "82" Metascore and I might have rated it slightly higher. Director Christian Petzold.

***Spent time on YouTube finding the best way to cut long hair. I checked 'the blog' and was surprised to learn how many times I have cut my hair as opposed to visiting Supercuts on Monroe. 

10am: Part the hair in the center and clip together the left and right sections with a rubber band. I lobbed off five or six inches and now it just touches my shoulders. 

Watched 'STREET KINGS' (Tubi).  The film is set on the mean streets of Los Angeles and is an unusual Cop/ Thriller co-written by  James Ellroy. A detective has a beef with an ex partner and when he confronts the guy in a convenience store, two gunmen burst in and machine gun the entire store.  His partner is shot dead and this leads to a search of the department for crooked cops, but the whole unit is corrupt to an outrageous degree. The message seems to be that in order to 'keep the peace' the good guys must do bad and despicable things to maintain order. It's a grim and cynical tale of police operating as a vigilante force and I liked it; with Keanu Reeves, Forest Whitaker, Hugh Laurie, Chris Evans, Cedric The Entertainer, Jay Mohr, and Terry Crews. "55" Metascore and I would have rated it a few points higher.    

1255am: The PC is 'Off' and the plan is to hit the treadmill because the temperature is 93 and the 'feels like' is 104!

***I forgot to turn off the treadmill on Tuesday. It should shut down automatically within a half hour....I hope. 

130pm: FIVE MILES AT 4.1 PACE AND ZERO SLANT; JOE LIST on comedian podcast...Bit about Paul McCartney as he introduces the song 'Happy Birthday' to the rest of the group and they feel that there is already a song called 'Happy Birthday'.

Watched a 20" YouTube video about Joe Rogan interviews gone wrong. Began a 'DIAZ & SYATT'...ABX EDIBLES.

We 8/15/18 Up 820am; overcast, clammy, and threatening. Rain predicted all day and tomorrow- none so far; 915am. (All day and barely a sprinkle- it was happening all around us, but nothing here) Watched  'SUSPECT ZERO' (Amazon Prime) Aaron Eckhart/ Ben Kingsley/ Carrie Anne Moss.  Eckhart plays a disgraced FBI agent who is being fed information by a serial killer. We 4/23/25- Gummy 645am {I took 1/4 of a 200 mg of 'DIET SMOKE' gummy: 50 mg total}. 650am (1-LB: Cookie Bread). 910am (1/2-LB: Cookie Bread).  1220pm (1-LB: Panama Punch). 535pm (1-LB: Permanent Marker). 815pm (1-LB: Permanent Marker).  Up 545am: A mix of suny & clouds with temps to about 80. Finished 'SIGNS' (Netflix). Clearly the drama hasn't ended, and I hope there will be infinite new seasons. {No such luck. I couldn't find anything about a third season}.
