Watched 'THE WAVE' (Kanopy). {When I dropped out of Kanopy in July I lost all of my 'faves'} A German high school teacher wanted 'Anarchy', but got stuck teaching 'Autocracy'. The kids become his willing followers and things get way out of hand. The film's message is that democratic societies are dangerously threatened by the ease with which a dictator could assume absolute political power, the kids seem to adapt to the 'movement' a little too quickly to be believed. Still a powerful film, and well worth a look. 9 wins & 8 nominations.

Watched 'THE THIN BLUE LINE' (Netflix) {music by Philip Glass}. I know I must have seen this before, but it's been years (decades) and I had forgotten why it's regarded as a classic documentary. A man runs out of gas in Dallas in November of 1976 and a sixteen year old delinquent (he's in a stolen car with stolen weapons) stops to give him a hand. Later that night a cop is shot and killed and the kid pins the murder on the good samaritan. It took this documentary to get the innocent man freed. The director, Erroll Morris, interviewed many of the odd and quirky cast of characters (strange beyond belief and the best part of the film) that were involved in the case and it was fairly clear that the police had the wrong guy from the beginning. "79" Metascore; 12 wins & 5 nominations.

More 'TOKYO SWINDLERS' (Netflix). I shut it down 23 minutes into the final episode and I'll finish the last 45" in the morning. Harrison's right hand man learns that the boss was behind the scam that killed his wife and son and injured his father. Harrison is particularly violent and there is an unbelievable scene in which he stomps a man's skull to paste.

I received in the mail the rejection from the 'passport department'. The document that I sent was not a legitimate 'birth certificate'. I wish I could pay to have somebody do this. It will be a nightmare.

We 8/15/18 Up 820am; overcast, clammy, and threatening. Rain predicted all day and tomorrow- none so far; 915am. (All day and barely a sprinkle- it was happening all around us, but nothing here) Watched  'SUSPECT ZERO' (Amazon Prime) Aaron Eckhart/ Ben Kingsley/ Carrie Anne Moss.  Eckhart plays a disgraced FBI agent who is being fed information by a serial killer.
