Watched 'JEANNE DU BARRY' (Kanopy).  Louis the XV of France becomes enamoured with a popular courtesan and attempts to include her in his 'royal life', yet his court sees her as nothing but an opportunistic harlot. This is a light & breezy costume drama that highlights the absurdity and excesses of the French monarchy before The Revolution. As a kind of running gag, the film offers the custom of walking backwards so that you never turn your back to the king and (more importantly) how rumor and innuendo infected nearly every activity at the Palace of Versailles; with Johnny Depp and Maiwenn (she directed the film and portrayed Jeanne du Barry). "48" Metascore and I'd rate it a couple of points higher.

The film is based on the life of Jeanne Becu, Comtesse du Barry (1743- 1793) who was executed by guillotine during the French Revolution. 

Finished 'THE MIRE 97' (Netflix). Relentlessly grim & gritty and lots of loose ends, but I will definitely be watching 'THE MIRE: Millennium' (Netflix) sometime in the future.

1140am: The PC is 'Off' and the plan is to do the weights and then hit Planet Fitness. On the way home I'll go up the hill to The Dollar General and get a few items.

To Dollar General: drain cleaner,  tub cleaner, deodorant; No placemats because they are seasonal items and all they had were pumpkin themed:  $15 total.

Began 'THE SIGNAL' (Netflix). I shut it down 11 minutes into episode #2. A German 'science fiction/ space mystery' and I'm confused. The astronauts returned to earth and then they were killed in a flight from Chile (where they landed) back to Germany?

We 8/15/18 Up 820am; overcast, clammy, and threatening. Rain predicted all day and tomorrow- none so far; 915am. (All day and barely a sprinkle- it was happening all around us, but nothing here) Watched  'SUSPECT ZERO' (Amazon Prime) Aaron Eckhart/ Ben Kingsley/ Carrie Anne Moss.  Eckhart plays a disgraced FBI agent who is being fed information by a serial killer. Seems to be Ben Kingsley, but he's not the killer, he's an ex-agent who can do 'remote viewing'. Finished 'SIGNS' (Netflix). Clearly the drama hasn't ended, and I hope there will be infinite new seasons. {No such luck. I couldn't find anything about a third season}.
