Watched 'BLACK MASS' (Netflix). A star-studded biopic of James 'Whitey' Bulger, the charismatic mob boss of Boston's 'Winter Hill Gang'; with Johnny Depp, Benedict Cumberbatch, Joel Edgerton, Kevin Bacon, Juno Temple, Peter Sarsgaard (great junkie performance as 'Brian'). 6 wins & 24 nominations. "68" Metascore and I would have rated it significantly higher.

Finished 'THE PERFECT COUPLE (Netflix). MOTIVE: The dead woman's out of wedlock child would 'reset' the will. The kids can only claim the inheritance when the youngest child turns eighteen and the dead woman's child would have been the next in line. Then the siblings would have to wait another eighteen years and split the inheritance five ways instead of four. Dakota Fanning's character was the murderer.  She gave the murdered girl a glass of orange juice laced with a strong downer, they went for a midnight swim, and the murderer held her friend's head under water until she drowned. The series owes a heck of a lot to Agatha Christie, treatment  was slightly sarcastic and snide. I liked it, and I would give it about "70".

Back to 'BETWEEN LANDS' (Netflix). I shut it down 7 minutes into episode #5. It's coming back and this is a series that's worth the effort.

Still unseasonably warm with a mix of sun & clouds. Watched 'MAGPIE' (Kanopy- borrowed 2 days ago).  It's basically a tale of 'Adultery & Revenge' although this isn't made clear until the last few minutes of the film. A wealthy couple live in a modern villa in the English countryside. He's a successful author, she is a housewife (she used to be in publishing) and their young daughter is co-starring in a big budget film that's being shot  near their home. Dad falls 'in lust' for the female star of the film, but his wife is several moves ahead. "69" Metascore and I would boost that to "80".
