Up 530am: Bright & sunny with temps to upper 80's. {Low humidity so I didn't have to use the AC in the late afternoon}

***Today I'm on the treadmill early because I am to meet the Brandenburgs at 430pm (Wrong!!) and we are going to the baseball diamonds on Parkview to watch Jamie's kids play baseball. They invited me for last week's game, but I didn't see the text until 1030pm.

630am:  FIVE MILES AT 4.1 PACE AND ZERO SLANT; watched 'WE MIGHT BE DRUNK' with JOE LIST and his unfunny wife- painful to watch. 

Watched 'THE DELIVERANCE' (Netflix). An impoverished black woman, her mother, and her three children move into a home that seems to be haunted by a very powerful demon spirit. Mom is a fierce and angry black woman and her reaction to their absurd 'spiritual' situation is surprisingly authentic. This tone and attitude is much more interesting than the paranormal hijinx. Glenn Close was amazing as the 'over-sexed grandma with attitude' and her outfits were stunningly on the mark; with Andra Day, Glenn Close, Anthony B. Jenkins, Caleb McLaughlin, Demi Singleton, and Mo'Nique. "39" Metascore but I would have gone much higher because the film presents such a believable portrayal of 'black female rage'.  I was shocked to learn that the film is based on a true incident that occurred in Gary, Indiana in November, 2011. 

Watched 'UNTAMED ROYALS' (Netflix). I shut it down at 59 minutes with 39 minutes remaining. I'll finish tomorrow morning or later tonight. A Mexican melodrama of pampered teens with more money, power, and social standing than sense.  

125pm: The PC is 'Off' and the plan is to do another 2 miles on the treadmill, do the weights, and then finish 'CAUGHT' by HARLEN COBEN before the Brandenburgs arrive at 430pm. [It was always 530pm. I don't know how I missed the time]

2pm: TWO MILES AT 4.1 PACE AND ZERO SLANT;

I misread the time and sent a text at 435pm asking if we were still on for baseball? It was always at 530pm... my mistake.

They arrived at 515pm and Joe drove the truck and Janny and I walked. Kinda cute kids fumbling and bumbling, but having a good time. 715pm: Janny and I walked back to 940 and Joe was waiting in the truck. I gave her back several books and gave her the two that I forgot to give her on the last visit. 

I began a new ROSS MCDONALD novel, 'THE UNDERGROUND MAN' and read until 815pm.

***Did the two daily beers, but no bath.

Finished 'UNTAMED ROYALS' (Netflix). Beautifully shot and lots of atmosphere, but hardly any character development and it made little sense. Not really an Art Film and definitely not a Thriller. I gave it 'one thumb up', but it was really about a half a 'thumb'. 

More of 'THE PERFECT COUPLE' (Netflix). I shut it down 14 minutes into episode #4. Nicole Kidman is stealing the show.

Still unseasonably warm with a mix of sun & clouds. Watched 'MAGPIE' (Kanopy- borrowed 2 days ago).  It's basically a tale of 'Adultery & Revenge' although this isn't made clear until the last few minutes of the film. A wealthy couple live in a modern villa in the English countryside. He's a successful author, she is a housewife (she used to be in publishing) and their young daughter is co-starring in a big budget film that's being shot  near their home. Dad falls 'in lust' for the female star of the film, but his wife is several moves ahead. "69" Metascore and I would boost that to "80".
