Up 540am: Bright, breezy & sunny with temps to mid 20's. They are banging the drums for a major snowstorm on Sunday. We'll see. 

Watched 'MOTHER, COUCH' (Hoopla- borrowed on Thursday). While visiting a furniture store an elderly woman sits on a couch and refuses to move. Her three adult children try to intervene and the film becomes a quirky & odd 'self discovery' for everyone. Very funny and moving, and veers into fantasy. It's based on a Swedish novel and the film is very much in the Art Film genre; with Ewan McGregor, Rhys Ifans, Taylor Russell, Ellen Burstyn, Lara Flynn Boyle. "59" Metascore and I would rate it much higher- "77". From the Los Angeles Times:

"From start to finish, it’s an original, wholly unpredictable experience. It’s also, by turns, gripping, provocative, head-scratching and disturbing, and is likely to divide viewers with its dreamlike ambitions and metaphorical musings."  

Watched 'THE TROUBLES: A Dublin Story' (Amazon Prime). During the 80's part of Ireland wanted to be independent (By Any Means Necessary) and this is the story of a handful of callow & naive 'Freedom Fighters'. These rebels might have lofty ideals, but they're just street thugs at heart. Funny Twist: 'The Twins' are two brothers born in the same year, but not 'twins' in the least. A well-made, small budget Independent film.

1110am: PC is 'Off' and preparing for another day on the treadmill. I will hit Planet Fitness tomorrow (Esporta closes at 2pm!!) and stay indoors on Sunday and Monday. It's going to be cold, so every flake that falls will stick.

We 8/15/18 Up 820am; overcast, clammy, and threatening. Rain predicted all day and tomorrow- none so far; 915am. (All day and barely a sprinkle- it was happening all around us, but nothing here) Watched  'SUSPECT ZERO' (Amazon Prime) Aaron Eckhart/ Ben Kingsley/ Carrie Anne Moss.  Eckhart plays a disgraced FBI agent who is being fed information by a serial killer. Seems to be Ben Kingsley, but he's not the killer, he's an ex-agent who can do 'remote viewing'. Not bad, but close, however excellent and creative charcoal drawings as the 'hints' to Eckhart's character. Still unseasonably warm with a mix of sun & clouds. Watched 'MAGPIE' (Kanopy- borrowed 2 days ago).  It's basically a tale of 'Adultery & Revenge' although this isn't made clear until the last few minutes of the film. A wealthy couple live in a modern villa in the English countryside. He's a successful author, she is a housewife (she used to be in publishing) and their young daughter is co-starring in a big budget film that's being shot  near their home. Dad falls 'in lust' for the female star of the film, but his wife is several moves ahead. "69" Metascore and I would boost that to "80". A troubled teen and his young sister try to make a go of it on their farmstead dairy after their father dies. It's got a strange tone and far from an average 'coming of age' tale.
