Watched 'THE HELP' (Hoopla). I had completely forgotten how moving this film was. A young woman interviews black maids in Mississippi during the sixties and their stories reveal the horror and hilarity of their lives under 'Jim Crow'. There was a handbook issued by the state of Mississippi about how blacks would be treated under their system of, 'Separate But Equal'; ex- Books for black children could never be used by white children; It was illegal for a black male to be a hairdresser of white girls and women. It's not 'Racism', it's the 'American Caste System' working just fine. Fun Scene: A black maid has baked a chocolate pie for her ignorant employer. The maid had put 'her shit' into the delicious pie; with Viola Davis, Emma Stone, Octavia Spencer, Jessica Chastain, Allison Janney, Cicely Tyson, Sissy Spacek. Won 1 Oscar; 79 wins & 121 nominations. "62" Metascore and I would have rated it much higher- "81".  

Watched 'TROUBLE THE WATER' (Kanopy- borrowed earlier in the week).  A documentary based on a black couple's home video of the damage done to their 9th Ward neighborhood by Hurricane Katrina in late August, 2005. I shut it down at 1 hr 7 minutes and 29 minutes remain and I'll finish the documentary at Planet Fitness.

1140am: PC is 'Off' and the plan is to do the weights and then workout at Planet Fitness. I called yesterday to find out if they'd be open on 'New Years Day' and 'they are open 24 hours'.

1230pm: To Planet Fitness...45"Cross, 45"Treadmill, 30" Recumbent Bike, 30" Treadmill, 30"Cross; finished KATRINA documentary;  watched 'MIRACLE MILE' (Amazon Prime)- It's a strange tale of random strangers in the 'Miracle Mile' neighborhood of Los Angeles on the night of the nuclear apocalypse. A dynamic idea yet it could have been so much better;  with MARE WINNINGHAM; finished MUSSOLINI documentary; more 'ARE YOU GARBAGE?'.

540pm: In the tub with 'INNOCENCE' and listening to GINGER BAKER Playlist; GREGG ALLMAN Playlist; ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND- 'Brothers & Sisters'. 

Finished 'ARE YOU GARBAGE?' and began MICHAEL MCDONALD (He grew up in St. Louis, born in Ferguson) on RICK BEATO.

More 'THE FAMILY' (Netflix). I finished episode #5 and that's halfway through the series. Pure soap, but I'm kinda digging it because it's so completely Japanese.

We 8/15/18 Up 820am; overcast, clammy, and threatening. Rain predicted all day and tomorrow- none so far; 915am. (All day and barely a sprinkle- it was happening all around us, but nothing here) Watched  'SUSPECT ZERO' (Amazon Prime) Aaron Eckhart/ Ben Kingsley/ Carrie Anne Moss.  Eckhart plays a disgraced FBI agent who is being fed information by a serial killer. Finished 'SIGNS' (Netflix). Clearly the drama hasn't ended, and I hope there will be infinite new seasons. {No such luck. I couldn't find anything about a third season}.
