Watched 'TENDABERRY' (Kanopy). A very different and poetic video biography of a young woman's life on Coney Island. Kota was born in the Dominican Republic and her boyfriend, Yuri must return to Ukraine to take care of his ailing father. This relationship ends when she finds out she's pregnant, she loses the baby, yet her life moves on. The film becomes a montage of the highs and lows in her life. It's very Arty & Dreamy and definitely a fresh take on autobiographical film making. Featured at Sundance Film Festival 2024 and inspired by 'Wildflower' by The Avalanches. 

Watched 'MEAN GIRLS' (Kanopy). More clever than funny, but it adeptly manages to present a sharp & satirical send-up of 'the high school caste system'. This is a universal experience and happens at every high school anywhere on the planet; with Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Amanda Seyfried.

VILLAGE VOICE: "... hilarious sociology, nailing the servile malice of 15-year-old girls." "66" Metascore and I would go to "77". Screenplay by Tina Fey.  

1115am: The PC is 'Off' and the plan is to do the weights and then hit Esporta. After the workout I'll drop by Schnucks for beer, soda, butter, and apples.

More MARK NORMAND ON 'Take Your Shoes Off'.

More 'SIGNS' (Netflix). I finished episode #5 and three more chapters remain. The series is chock full of artfully bleak moodiness, yet the various plots are almost too complicated to understand. Maybe it's a Polish thing.

We 8/15/18 Up 820am; overcast, clammy, and threatening. Rain predicted all day and tomorrow- none so far; 915am. (All day and barely a sprinkle- it was happening all around us, but nothing here) Watched  'SUSPECT ZERO' (Amazon Prime) Aaron Eckhart/ Ben Kingsley/ Carrie Anne Moss.  Eckhart plays a disgraced FBI agent who is being fed information by a serial killer. Seems to be Ben Kingsley, but he's not the killer, he's an ex-agent who can do 'remote viewing'.
