Up 530am: Possible showers today (never happened) with temps to about 85, but still very muggy. A Heat Advisory was added until 7pm Saturday and Monday and Tuesday will also bring 'Feels Like' temps way over 100. (The electric bill arrived today:  $138.00).

***Last night I hacked off a few inches of my hair and continued on it this morning. It's still a little too long, but I'm done for now. Maybe a visit to SuperCuts is in my future. 9am: I think that I got the length correctly as the ends just graze the shoulders.  Last haircut that I did myself was Fr 8/30/24. 

Watched 'A NORMAL WOMAN' (Netflix). A very wealthy woman is married and living with her husband, daughter, and mother in law. Although a top-tier 'trophy wife', she's plagued by terrible skin rashes that might be psychosomatic or maybe 'evil has messed up her mind'. The woman also can't remember any of her childhood. Apparently, she was disfigured in a 'mirror accident' and after the plastic surgery she was beautiful, but now she'd rather have 'truth' than 'beauty'. None of it made much sense, but it was well shot and worth a look. 

Watched 'I'M YOUR VENUS' (Netflix). Venus Xtravagaza was a trans/Italian/ Peurto Rican who was featured in the documentary, 'PARIS IS BURNING'. In December of 1988 she was murdered and this documentary is about how her three brothers tried to get the police to reopen the closed murder case. It also highlights the efforts of The Xtravaganza family which is a kind of gay collective in NYC that is dedicated to the art of voguing. From Wikipedia: "Vogue, or voguing, is a highly stylized, modern house dance originating in the late 1980s that evolved out of the Harlem ballroom scene of the 1960s."  

Finished 'THE GRINGO HUNTERS' (Netflix). There has been no official confirmation about a second season, but I vote 'yes'.

1210pm: PC is 'Off' and preparing for a visit to Esporta.

It's a guy that she met on a Tinder date that killed her, but he maintains that it was only 'rough sex' that ended in tragedy. The alarming thing about the case (to me) is that almost all of the man's movements were recorded on CCTV cameras. Is their whole country wired?;  more of the new 'Superman' actor on TYSO; more JIM NORTON on J.R.E.

Began 'SIRENS' (Netflix). Just when I thought that I'd seen more than enough about the 'super rich', along comes this very well written series. It's like the best of Bravo and ten times wittier. I'm going to be sad when I reach the end of this one and I've only finished the first episode. I shut it down 6 minutes into episode #2.

We 8/15/18 Up 820am; overcast, clammy, and threatening. Rain predicted all day and tomorrow- none so far; 915am. Still unseasonably warm with a mix of sun & clouds. Watched 'MAGPIE' (Kanopy- borrowed 2 days ago).  It's basically a tale of 'Adultery & Revenge' although this isn't made clear until the last few minutes of the film. A wealthy couple live in a modern villa in the English countryside. He's a successful author, she is a housewife (she used to be in publishing) and their young daughter is co-starring in a big budget film that's being shot  near their home. Dad falls 'in lust' for the female star of the film, but his wife is several moves ahead. "69" Metascore and I would boost that to "80".
