Up 630am: Extreme heat & humidity and the Heat Advisory begins at 10am. I wanted to mow the lawn very early, but the grass is too wet. It must have rained sometime last night, but it's so humid that nothing has dried. I'll try again after watching a movie. 

Watched 'THEY CAME TOGETHER' (Hoopla- I learned about the film when Mark Rudd visited Rick Glassman on 'TAKE YOUR SHOES OFF').  I haven't laughed this hard in weeks. It's a 'deconstruct' and scathing satire of the entire 'Rom- Com Genre' employing the cliche of a 'How We Met' plotline. The Premise: An 'average' couple in Manhattan meet and (eventually) get married. He's a 'corporate candy mogel' and she runs 'The Upper Sweet Side' candy store in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn. The movie is silly and insightful and is bursting with zany scenes and hilarious sketches that chronicle their budding relationship; with Paul Rudd, Amy Poehler, Bill Hader, Ellie Kemper (UNBREAKABLE KIMMY SCHMIDT), MICHAEL SHANNON (he's only in a very funny fight scene at the end of the film). "60" Metascore and I think this one is criminally underrated and I'd go to "86".  

930am: I wanted to mow the lawn, but the grass is still too wet in the back and it would result in a big & clumpy mess. 

Began 'THE EDGE OF DEMOCRACY' (Netflix). A profile of Brazil's fight against corruption in their country. Before Trump, I would have thought this kind of thing couldn't happen in the US, but now you can clearly see that his tactics are not new and amazingly effective. I'll watch the last hour and fifteen minutes tomorrow morning. 

1105am: The PC is 'Off' and I've put the yard work off for as long as I can so it's time to mow. And the backyard is quite a bit dryer. 

1115pm- 1210pm: mowing; no trimming; tomorrow would be three weeks since the last time I cut the grass. Nice

540pm:  In the tub to begin 'MAN PLUS' by FREDERIK POHL and listening to TRIO OF DOOM'; KING'S X Playlist; LED ZEPPELIN- 'How The West Was Won'.

Still unseasonably warm with a mix of sun & clouds. Watched 'MAGPIE' (Kanopy- borrowed 2 days ago).  It's basically a tale of 'Adultery & Revenge' although this isn't made clear until the last few minutes of the film. A wealthy couple live in a modern villa in the English countryside. He's a successful author, she is a housewife (she used to be in publishing) and their young daughter is co-starring in a big budget film that's being shot  near their home. Dad falls 'in lust' for the female star of the film, but his wife is several moves ahead. "69" Metascore and I would boost that to "80".
