Up 7am: Mostly sunny with temps to low 90's and 'feels like' in the triple digits. The temps and humidity will be rising through the weekend. 

Watched 'INTO THE LABYRINTH' (Amazon Prime). The film is a highly stylish homage to the look and style of Italian cinema of the late 1960's. The plot concerns a young teenage girl who was kidnapped and escaped after being held for fifteen years. She's being interviewed by a very 'concerned' shrink, and the 'reveal' is that he's the twisted designer of the maze. The cracked premise was that she lived in an underground tunnel system for so long, but the presentation was very surreal and the film is a feast for the eyes. Directed and written by Donato Carrisi and stars Dustin Hoffman with an Italian cast.  

805am {directly after the 1st bowl of the day} I noticed a request for a 'restart'...only took a few moments}.

Finished the last twenty minutes of 'AMERICAN MANHUNT: Osama Bin Laden' (Netflix). It was kind of a video valentine to America's intelligence agencies. They get to explain what they did and then boast a bit. Trump era Republicans would say that it was all political and fake news. 

Began 'THE ECHOES OF SURVIVORS: Inside Korea's Tragedies' (Netflix). I shut it down 40 minutes into the first episode. In Korea during the early 80's a religious organization was detaining children and forcing them to work for 'The Brothers' Home'. So far, it's just the kid's point of view, but I can't wait to see who was running the operation and how it managed to evade public censure. I'll probably continue this one tonight even though I'm into the East German thriller on Amazon Prime. 

1250pm: The PC is 'Off' and preparing for a walk on the treadmill. It's hotter than hell....Temperature is 91 and 'feels like' 102!

110pm: FIVE MILES AT 4.0 PACE AND ZERO SLANT; an episode of '48 HOURS' (Amazon Prime)-  Bipolar mom is brutally beaten & stabbed to death. Hubby was the prime suspect, but the teenage son is convicted on circumstantial evidence; more Ari, Mark, & Shane podcast.

440pm: TWO MILES AT 4.0 PACE AND ZERO SLANT; JOE LIST on 'ARE YOU GARBAGE?'. 

540pm: In the tub with 'MISTAKEN IDENTITY' and listening to LED ZEPPELIN 2 Deluxe; MELVINS Playlist; MOBY GRAPE- 'Crosstalk'.

More 'THE ECHOES OF SURVIVORS: Inside Korea's Tragedies' (Netflix). 'The Brothers' Home Foundation'. I finished the second episode and another fascinating subject that I had never heard about. Round up the homeless, petty criminals, and social dissidents and put them in concentration camps. Sounds very similar to the sheriff in Arizona who was making a big play with his 'tough on crime' nonsense.

We 8/15/18 Up 820am; overcast, clammy, and threatening. Rain predicted all day and tomorrow- none so far; 915am. Still unseasonably warm with a mix of sun & clouds. Watched 'MAGPIE' (Kanopy- borrowed 2 days ago).  It's basically a tale of 'Adultery & Revenge' although this isn't made clear until the last few minutes of the film. A wealthy couple live in a modern villa in the English countryside. He's a successful author, she is a housewife (she used to be in publishing) and their young daughter is co-starring in a big budget film that's being shot  near their home. Dad falls 'in lust' for the female star of the film, but his wife is several moves ahead. "69" Metascore and I would boost that to "80". A troubled teen and his young sister try to make a go of it on their farmstead dairy after their father dies. It's got a strange tone and far from an average 'coming of age' tale.
