 Sa 8/9/25

750am (1-LB: Citrus Mac). 825am (3 hits-B: LA Runtz). 1020am (1/2-LB: LA Runtz). 110pm (1-LB: Citrus Mac). 255pm (1/2-B: Citrus Mac). 435pm (4 hits-LB: LA Runtz). 535pm (1-LB: LA Runtz). 815pm (1-LB: Citrus Mac).

Up 7am: Sunny & blistering with temps to just above 90 and 'feels like' over 100. The Black Crowes are playing tonight at the Illinois State Fair and I'm considering (10% chance & fading) attending the concert, but....it's going to be sweltering hot and the fairgrounds will be packed with drunken deplorables.  I am a big fan of their opening act, 'SOUTHALL'. They sound very similar to 'THE LONG RYDERS'.

Watched 'BARBARIAN' (Netflix).  The film is set in a bed & breakfast in the suburban slums of contemporary Detroit. People who rent the property can end up dead in the tunnels beneath the home. REASON: A man was kidnapping women during the Reagan Years, making them pregnant and then 'breeding' with all of them (I guess). The strongest 'demon' is just a mom who wants her 'baby'. The film ends with the Ronettes singing 'Be My Baby'. The tension doesn't quit and it's an unpredictable (and surprisingly funny!) & scary ride; with Georgina Campbell, Bill Skarsgard, Justin Long. Five wins & 38 nominations. "78" Metascore and I would easily boost that to "88".

***Ordered another 15 pounds of Royal Basmati rice: $14.

Watched 'SEEKING MAVIS BEACON' (Netflix). Mavis Beacon was called, "The Aunt Jemima of Technology" and she became the 'face' of a very popular software program for early personal computers. Kids of color loved the instructional typing program because it featured a dark skinned female as a spokesperson. The film documents two black student filmmakers' as they try to find out who Mavis was and how she came to be.  While watching the documentary I remembered the 'world's fastest typist'- Cortez Peters. He was also black and started many Afro-centric business schools around the US. I'm surprised that the makers of this doc didn't mention this, but it was still a film that was well worth a look. "71" Metascore and I would go to "83".

1250pm: The PC is 'Off' and preparing for a walk on the treadmill.

***Oiled treadmill; 1 oz split between both sides

120pm: FIVE MILES AT 4.0 PACE AND ZERO SLANT; MARC MARON on 'HONEY DEW'

Weights: 3 sets/ 15 reps

Reading 'DIVORCING THE DICTATOR'

440pm: TWO MILES AT 4.0 PACE AND ZERO SLANT; 'ARE YOU GARBAGE? '- just FOLEY & RYAN.

540pm: In the tub with 'DIVORCING THE DICTATOR' and listening to JOHN PAUL JONES- 'Zooma'; LED ZEPPELIN- 'How The West Was Won'; LES CLAYPOOL Playlist; SOUTHALL Playlist.

Finished 'ARE YOU GARBAGE?'- just the boys and began a podcast where MARC MARON calls out the 'Rogansphere'.

Began 'DELIRIUM' (Netflix).  I shut it down 24 minutes into episode #2. A Colombian woman loses her mind because her mom taught her that sex was dirty. Another steamy soap from South America that I will continue tomorrow night.

Fr 10/3/25- Brandenburgs/ Gummy

Fr 10/3/25- Brandenburgs/ Gummy  735am (1-LB: Diablo's Hearse). 820am (3 hits-B: Citrus Mac).  1215pm [I took 1/3 of 'VIIA' 100 mg: 33 mg total].(1-LB: Citrus Mac).  240pm (4 hits-B: Diablo's Hearse). 435pm (1-LB: Diablo's Hearse). 530pm (1-LB: Citrus Mac). 815pm (1-LB: Diablo's Hearse).  Up 630am: Rain was "in the area", but missed Westview and more sunny & unseasonably warm weather with temps close to 90. {No rain in a long time & it's getting crunchy}  About 730am several 'tree trimming' trucks arrived and parked just down the street. I first thought that they were for the house across the street, but it looks like the action is farther down the road. They disappeared by 10am and I think they were at the house 'with the indoor whirlpool'.  Watched 'UPGRADE' (Netflix).  A very fine 'Dystopian/ SciFi' genre film about a couple in Melbourne ("in a not too distant future") who are in their 'auto...

Tu 9/30/35- Flu Shot/ COVID/ Gummy 730am (1-LB: a mix of Diablo's & Citrus). 815am (1/2-B: Diablo's Hearse). 1255pm (1-LB: Diablo's Hearse). 1pm [I took 1/2 'DIET SMOKE]. 250pm (1/2-B: Citrus Mac). 435pm (1-LB: Citrus Mac). 535pm (1-LB: Diablo's Hearse). 810pm (1-LB: Citrus Mac).  Up 635am: Sunny & unseasonably warm with temps almost to 90. Borrowed 'HOLY COW' and 'TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH' from Hoopla to meet my quota for September. Watched 'HOLY COW' (Hoopla). A troubled teen and his young sister try to make a go of it on their farmstead dairy after their father dies. It's got a strange tone and far from an average 'coming of age' tale. Set in far eastern France near the rural villages of Pimorin and Orgelet which are about 75 miles west of Geneva, Switzerland. "83" Metascore and I would go to "91".  Watched 'BEYOND TRAINSPOTTING: The World Of Irvine Welsh' (Kanopy). An excellent profile of t...

Su 8/9/26

Su 8/9/26 820am (GB: 5/ Durban Poison). 320pm (GB: 5/ Red Congolese).  535pm (GB: 6/ Durban Poison). 830pm (GB: 6/ Red Congolese).  Up 635am: Hot & humid with temps to upper 80's and a 'Heat Advisory' is in effect. Weekly Cleaning & I tried to add 'uBlock Origin' to the upstairs PC, but it said I already have it. I rejected all ads at Accuweather and it makes the site watchable. This feature is not available at The Weather Channel. I had planned to try a visit to Pleasant Plains in the morning, but constipated so I think I'll hit it later. Watched 'CHIEF OF STATION' (Netflix). A former CIA Station Chief's wife is killed in an 'accidental' explosion and then accused of being a double agent. Hubby goes rogue to find his wife's killers. Very lame and highly forgettable; with Aaron Eckhart (Alec Baldwin was first on their list). I had planned to visit Plains earlier, but constipation is an issue. 1025am- 205pm; home by 230pm call Joe...
