Watched 'ONE NIGHT WITH ADELA' (Kanopy). I expected a film about gang warfare and harrowing car chases, but nothing like that. It's about a female garbage collector working the nightshift in a desolate section of Madrid, Spain. She kills a man after he assaulted and robbed her, engages the services of a handsome black sex worker, and has sex in front of her bound and gagged step parents. The movie is glacially paced, but compelling and she's on the phone to a female talk show host on the line during much of the action. The theme is that she's tired of always being on the short end of the stick, and now it's time for a reckoning. A strange film and I'll bet it's an Art House sensation. I like it. 'Recogida de Residuos' is printed on the back of Adela's work jacket. It means 'Waste Collection'.

Began 'BEAUTY AND THE BESTER' (Netflix- 3 part series). A prisoner in a South African maximum security prison is found incinerated under his mattress in an isolation cell. How could you light the mattress on fire without any means of starting a fire? This person died of head trauma before the fire and was not the prisoner who was supposed to be in the cell.  $700,000 Rands (ZAR) is a little over $40,000usd. I shut it down 28 minutes into episode #2. I'll finish the rest of the series tonight. 

1155am: The PC is 'Off' and preparing for a walk on the treadmill.

Finished HARLAND WILLIAMS on 'WE MIGHT BE DRUNK'.

Finished 'BEAUTY AND THE BESTER' (Netflix). Strange people get famous on social media. The guy ran a media empire from a jail cell on a phone and a laptop. Unbelievable. 

Began 'THE DEAD GIRLS' (Netflix). I watched the first fifteen minutes of the first episode. Set in Mexico during the early 60's with quality sets, costumes, and locations. I'll be back tomorrow.

Still unseasonably warm with a mix of sun & clouds. Watched 'MAGPIE' (Kanopy- borrowed 2 days ago).  It's basically a tale of 'Adultery & Revenge' although this isn't made clear until the last few minutes of the film. A wealthy couple live in a modern villa in the English countryside. He's a successful author, she is a housewife (she used to be in publishing) and their young daughter is co-starring in a big budget film that's being shot  near their home. Dad falls 'in lust' for the female star of the film, but his wife is several moves ahead. "69" Metascore and I would boost that to "80".
